I am a wedding and portrait photographer who keeps things light, fun, and full of energy. I’m based out of Springfield, Illinois however I love traveling all over the midwest and beyond.

Some couples just make my job ridiculously easy, and Shanli and Greg are definitely one of those couples. From the second they stepped out of the car, they were smiling, laughing, and completely wrapped up in each other. We met up on a gorgeous late spring evening in downtown Springfield, and these two looked absolutely amazing. Shanli wore a stunning white corset dress that floated beautifully every time she moved, while Greg looked sharp in khakis and a crisp white button-down. More importantly, though, they brought the best energy. They’re so laid back, so comfortable together, and so obviously in love that the entire session felt more like hanging out with old friends than taking photos.
We started near one of Springfield’s beautiful historic churches, where the bright archways and grand doors gave us the perfect backdrop. Honestly, though, Shanli and Greg could have been standing in the middle of a parking lot and still looked incredible. Greg knows exactly what to say to get Shanli giggling, and there was no shortage of laughter throughout the evening. Between the joking, the sweet little looks they exchanged, and the way they naturally gravitated toward each other, photographing them was effortless.
Later, we made our way to another meaningful location that will play a role in their wedding day. The Bressmer Mansion is a gorgeous spot downtown where the couple plans to get ready the morning of their big day. Shanli changed into the prettiest floral dress, and it could not have been more perfect for twirling. Every time Greg spun her around, they both ended up laughing. One of my favorite things about these two is how intentional they are with each other. When they lock eyes, you can tell they’re fully present in that moment. It’s sweet, genuine, and something you don’t have to pose or force.
We wrapped up the evening surrounded by colorful blooms and garden paths, where Shanli and Greg changed into more casual outfits and leaned fully into the fun side of their relationship. Greg pushed Shanli on a swing, we played around with a few lifts and dips, and they spent most of the time laughing their way through the final part of the session. By the end of the night, my cheeks hurt from smiling right along with them.
Their engagement session was the perfect mix of romantic, playful, and completely authentic to who they are as a couple. If this session was any indication of what’s to come, their wedding day in just a few weeks is going to be absolutely incredible. I can’t wait to celebrate alongside them and capture the next chapter of their story.
Warm Regards,
