Some wedding days just feel easy from the very beginning, and Shelby and Carter’s day was one of them. From the moment I walked in, there was laughter coming from every room, people checking in on one another, and that contagious excitement that happens when everyone is genuinely thrilled to celebrate two amazing people. It was a warm spring day at the end of May, and the energy all morning was nothing but joy.
Shelby spent the morning getting ready with her mom, future mother-in-law, and bridesmaids, and it felt like one big celebration before the celebration even started. Meanwhile, Carter and his crew were hanging out together, enjoying the calm before the festivities kicked off. Before seeing her groom, Shelby shared a first look with her dad, and let’s just say there were definitely some emotions involved. Not long after, it was Carter’s turn.
We found a quiet spot outside for their first look, and it was one of my favorite moments of the day. There were happy tears, lots of laughter, and the kind of smiles that you simply can’t fake. You could tell these two had been waiting for this day for a long time.
Afterward, we spent some time with the bridal party, and honestly, this group was so much fun. The bridesmaids looked beautiful in sage green dresses, while the guys rocked tan suits that felt perfect for a spring wedding. And Carter’s nephew? Absolute MVP ring bearer. He was having the time of his life hanging out with the adults and soaking up every minute of the excitement.
One of the biggest gifts of the day was having some extra time for portraits with just Shelby and Carter. The softer skies gave us the chance to wander around a bit and really let them enjoy being together without feeling rushed. Some of my favorite photos from the day came from those quiet moments where they forgot I was even there and simply soaked in the fact that they were getting married. Especially when we added Shelby’s cathedral length veil for a few windblown shots!
When ceremony time arrived, family and friends gathered together, and the emotions immediately kicked into high gear. Carter walked his parents down the aisle, followed by his sisters, and there wasn’t a dry eye in sight. Then came Shelby, arm in arm with both of her parents. The smiles, the tears, the excitement—it was all there.
Their ceremony felt like the perfect reflection of who they are: heartfelt, joyful, and full of love. After exchanging rings and making it all official with a kiss, they practically floated back down the aisle. The cheering from their family and friends was loud, their smiles were huge, and the celebratory dip on the way out was the perfect ending to an unforgettable ceremony.
The party definitely didn’t slow down once the reception started. Family and friends shared heartfelt toasts before Shelby and Carter cut into a very special cake made by the bride’s aunt using her grandmother’s recipe. As if that wasn’t enough, Shelby’s aunt also brought an incredible spread of homemade desserts that guests were still talking about hours later.
Once the dance floor opened, it stayed packed. There was no shortage of laughter, dancing, and unforgettable moments as everyone celebrated the new Mr. and Mrs. Weiters.
Before the night was over, I stole Shelby and Carter away for a few sunset photos, and I am so glad we did. After a day filled with excitement and celebration, it gave them a chance to slow down for a few minutes and simply be together. Watching them laugh, soak in the evening, and reflect on everything that had just happened was the perfect way to end an incredible wedding day.
Shelby and Carter, thank you for allowing me to be part of such a joyful celebration. Your love for each other, your incredible families, and the amazing group of people surrounding you made this a wedding day I’ll never forget. Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Weiters!
