Some engagement sessions just feel easy from the very beginning, and Ellie and Matt’s was exactly that kind of evening. It was one of those hot September nights where the light turns soft and golden and everything seems to glow. We started among tall trees just beginning to hint at autumn, with wispy flowering grasses catching the sunshine and adding the prettiest texture all around us. The whole setting felt warm, romantic, and a little bit magical. Basically the perfect backdrop for these two.
Ellie was a little more reserved at first, while Matt jumped right in with his laid-back personality and endless ability to make her laugh. Within minutes, the nerves melted away and the two of them were giggling nonstop. Matt definitely knows how to bring out Ellie’s smile, and it was so sweet to watch them relax and simply enjoy being together. We explored a few fun new spots, played around with some unique architectural details, and captured so many genuine moments of the two of them laughing, snuggling close, and soaking up the evening. They looked amazing too, with Ellie in a gorgeous tea-length cream dress and Matt in a blush pink button-down and khakis, which fit the soft, romantic feel of the session perfectly.
For the second half of their engagement session, we switched things up with a completely different setting and a few photos in their first outfits before they changed into something a little more casual and comfortable. Once we made our way closer to the water, the mood became even more relaxed and playful. There were lots of quiet moments with the two of them cuddled up tight, mixed with plenty of laughter and joking around. That balance of sweetness and silliness describes Ellie and Matt so well.
We wrapped up the evening at sunset, and it could not have been a more perfect ending. The sky was beautiful, the light was dreamy, and these two were completely in their element. One of my favorite moments was when Matt, who is a police officer, I directed him to walk Ellie along the painted line in the road while joking that he was giving her a “field sobriety test.” We were all cracking up, and it was such a fun snapshot of their relationship. Their engagement session was full of laughter, tenderness, and so much joy. After spending the evening with these two, I’m even more excited for their wedding in just a couple of weekends!
Warm Regards,
