January weddings in the Midwest are always a little unpredictable… and honestly, that’s part of the fun. Holly and Tanner fully embraced it—cold temps, wind, sunshine, and those dreamy little bursts of snow flurries—and it made their day feel extra special from start to finish.
Their wedding at Barn III had such a cozy, welcoming feel, which was exactly what you want on a chilly winter day. Holly spent the morning getting ready with her mom and sister before her bridesmaids and her sweet nieces (aka the flower girls!) joined in on the excitement. Over in another building owned by the venue, Tanner and his guys were getting ready in the groom’s quarters, keeping things relaxed and fun.
One of my favorite parts of the day was their first look. We found a spot just outside the back of the barn, and even though the wind and cold were definitely doing their thing, it gave Holly and Tanner a quiet moment to just be together. From there, we rolled right into bridal party photos and…WOW, this group brought the energy. Between the laughter, the hype, and everyone being absolute champs in the freezing temps, it made for so many fun memories.
The bridal party looked incredible. The girls wore jewel-toned dresses in different styles, which photographed so beautifully together, and the guys kept it classic in black suits. Tanner’s emerald green jacket was such a good choice! It stood out in the best way. And the florals? So good. Rich colors, tons of texture… just all around stunning.
We spent some time inside (shoutout to staying warm for a bit), especially for those cozy fireplace photos, and then headed back out into the cold. And honestly…it paid off. The sun popped out at just the right time, the snow started lightly falling, and it created the dreamiest winter backdrop. Holly looked absolutely stunning in her tulle gown, and I loved when she added her ivory sweater for a little extra warmth. These two were just soaking in every second together, and it was such a joy to capture.
Their ceremony was full of so much emotion and excitement. Surrounded by their people and standing up on the stage with their bridal party, Holly and Tanner said their vows and “I do’s” with the biggest smiles. After exchanging rings, they sealed it with a kiss and threw their hands up in celebration! Such a fun, joy-filled moment that perfectly fit them.
And then… the party started. The reception was packed with so many fun, high-energy moments. They cut their cake, shared the sweetest first dance, and then Holly hit the dance floor with her dad for an upbeat song that had them both spinning and laughing the whole time. Tanner shared a special dance with his mom, and the toasts—from Holly’s dad, her sister and Matron of Honor, and Tanner’s brother the Best Man—were heartfelt and meaningful in all the best ways. And before I left, the newlyweds snuck outside one more time to capture photos with the Barn III’s light show! Absolutely Phenomenal!
Once the dance floor opened, it stayed full all night (always the goal, right?!). And just when you thought the night couldn’t get any better, the staff surprised everyone with a choreographed dance… and somehow a costume horse head ended up making its rounds on the dance floor! Truly one of those “you had to be there” moments that no one will forget anytime soon.
Such an amazing day celebrating the new Mr. & Mrs. McCormick! Full of love, laughter, and a little extra winter magic.
