Not every engagement session starts off with total confidence and honestly, those are some of my favorites. Riley & Gavin showed up a little nervous (which is so real), but also completely ready to just spend some quality time together and that energy made all the difference. Within minutes, the nerves started to fade and their natural connection took over. They’re the kind of couple that doesn’t take themselves too seriously, which meant lots of laughter right from the start. Especially with their sweet (and very energetic) pup, Lulu, in the mix. She kept things moving, kept them on their toes, and gave us so many unplanned, joy-filled moments. Between the giggles, the chaos in the best way, and those soft, glowy early September tones all around them, everything just came together so effortlessly.

For the second half of their session, we found the dreamiest little spot with a tall autumn grasses and the prettiest sunset starting to show off. This is where Riley & Gavin really settled in. There were so many sweet moments of them tucked in close, mixed with their playful, slightly competitive side coming out. And by “slightly competitive,” I mean full-on hip checking each other and laughing like crazy about it. It was one of those moments that you couldn’t plan if you tried…And it was so them. The whole evening felt relaxed, genuine, and just plain fun from start to finish. I already know their fall wedding day is going to be full of this same kind of energy, and I seriously cannot wait.
