Reflecting back on this past weekend’s nuptials I’m feeling overwhelmingly blessed! Not only for the incredible couple I had the opportunity to capture moments for or the wonderful barn venue, which helped cultivate picturesque images. However, the most exciting part for me was all the familiar faces I had the chance to focus on (pun intended) behind my camera and beyond! Brad, the handsome groom, is the brother to one of my past groom’s, Steve who married his sweetheart, Kristin almost two years ago. Now it was Brad’s turn to marry the love of his life, Joanna, who is undeniably kind, genuine, and filled with happiness! Joanna and Brad met over three years ago while both working for State Farm in Bloomington, Illinois. For their engagement session, we visited the State Farm campus back where their relationship started. Now, on their long-anticipated country wedding day, we were heading to the beautiful venue, The Bloomfield Barn in Chrisman, Illinois. Brad told me when they found the Bloomfield Barn and went for a visit, Joanna couldn’t stop smiling! So he instantly knew they found their spot. The morning was filled with Brad getting ready with his two groomsmen, Logan and Steve while Joanna was surrounded by her lovely ladies, maid of honor, Caitlin and Brad’s sister, Brittany. The bridesmaids were in adorable navy lace dresses complete with their cowboy boots, cause what’s a country wedding without boots? When it was time for Joanna to get dressed, she looked amazing in her satin dress with simple beaded accents. And to give some more country flair to her look she added a navy and white flannel shirt and her own intricate cowboy boots! She’s adorable, right?! Brad and the boys had perfect country attire for a wedding with jeans, boots, plaid shirts, and vests, while Brad wore a matching jacket and his signature “Doctor Who” belt buckle. To top off the looks, they had boutonnieres made with shotgun shells. Doesn’t get any more country than that!
Joanna and Brad chose to have a first look with each other in the loft of the barn, which they loved. Each of them were calm and collected, yet couldn’t wait to see each other! Once Joanna tapped Brad on the shoulder he took in every bit of her and the smile never left his face. They are so sweet together and I’m so thankful I could share this moment with them. Once Joanna and Brad had the chance to hold hands, they never let go during the day. Along with their delightful bridal party, we headed outside for some photos to really capture their fun and awesome personalities. Although it was a small bridal party, these guys brought a big blast of energy! On this beautiful day with Joanna and Brad’s crew showing off their dynamic and loving relationships. When it was time for just the soon to be Mr. & Mrs. Ross, they were ready to go! Not only are Joanna and Brad a charming couple, but within minutes of meeting them, you can see how deeply they care for one another. Brad is so attentive to what Joanna needs and goes above and beyond to take care of her. I really enjoyed seeing the two of them together.
The morning slipped into the afternoon, which meant it was ceremony time! The nuptials were set up with a backdrop of the rustic barn and Joanna chose a non-traditional entrance to meet her man! Instead of walking up the aisle to meet Brad to say their vows, she emerged arm and arm with her dad from behind the barn doors for all the guests to see. The ceremony included many meaning full scriptures and sentiments from their pastor, Brad Nave making the readings very personal to the couple. Bringing into view the deeper meaning behind the marriage Joanna and Brad are now entering into. Wedding Day is just that…A day. I think this couple understands the marriage is way more important than the wedding. Which makes me love them even more! With the exchange of vows and a kiss, Joanna and Brad were MARRIED!
Knowing the party that was thrown at Kristin and Steve’s wedding two years ago, I expected nothing less for the newest Ross reception! Especially when the couple had dueling pianos from Felix and Fingers as their entertainment! Seriously Amazing! Joanna and Brad shared a lovely choreographed first dance followed by a spin around the dance floor with Joanna’s dad, Donny and Brad’s mom, Sheri. By the time the piano players began I swept the couple back up to head outside for sunset photos! Which definitely did not disappoint! We spent a few minutes with Joanna and Brad just allowing them to reflect on their gorgeous day, their supportive loved ones, and the phenomenal country setting. The golden light was perfect and even more so with the bride and groom standing in front snuggled in close! By the time we returned to the reception, the party was in full swing and the pianos were hopping! What a fun way to end the day! Thank You to Joanna and Brad for allowing me this special opportunity to work with the Ross Family again and capture another splendid couple on the new journey of marriage!
Warm Regards,
Lauren
