* 2017 Engagement Session Recap *
I know, I know! It’s now officially 2018! But, I just can’t stop thinking about how wonderful 2017 was for my growing business! Engagement sessions are an amazing way for my couples and I to get to know one another. I have undivided time without the craziness of wedding day to learn more about the rare and incredible aspects of their relationship. Making the engagement session tailored to show off a relationship is part of the excitement. It’s about THEM! What formed history and created who they are as a couple. I get a sense of what they are passionate about by incorporating meaningful locations, how and where they met, and even their beloved pets. 2017 seemed to be the year of the dogs for sure! Which I totally enjoyed! My two pups would be so mad when I came how smelling of my couple’s furbabies a countless number of times last year! But, I wouldn’t change it because that’s when some of the most authentic smiles my couples had came out! When they were snuggled up with their dogs! So sweet!
I am starting to learn many more cities such as Bloomington, Champaign, St. Louis, Carlinville, Jacksonville, and of course finding other hidden gems around Springfield. I even visited many different college campuses where my couple’s love stories began and thrived. Whether it was a downtown setting with urban cityscapes. Beautiful parks surrounded by trees and flowers. Or having the honor of being invited to the family home or farm as a unique location only meant for my couple. I had a blast at each and every one of them.
Yet, the overall blessing for me is to photograph fascinating couples all over central Illinois and even Missouri. For them to entrust me with their engagement photos and more importantly their wedding photography still uplifts my heart every day. To allow me a brief glimpse into their world and give me full access to tell their story through my camera pumps up my creative juices to the max to ensure I am giving them the best experience and images I can deliver. A few of these beautiful couples I photographed in 2017 also tied the knot in 2017. However, many will call 2018 their anniversary year! I’m excited to see what 2018 has in store for my engaged couples!
