Time Flies. It just does. As much as we try and slow down our busy, crazy, fun filled lives time simply doesn’t wait around for us to take it all in some times. I remember what seems like yesterday going to the Dobey Family’s home to photograph their new addition, Emmett’s as a newborn. Now, in a blink of an eye he is ONE! How did this happen? When I actually started photographing this delightful family including their oldest son, Elliott, he was around one. Now he is pushing 4! Watching this type of growth is a gift my business gives me each time I photograph a family. Elliott is so full of energy and interested in everything! The two of us had a blast checking out Carpenter Park in Springfield, Illinois at the beginning of our session while Sara and Eric (aka Mom and Dad) tag teamed getting Emmett dressed. Once I had all four of them in their vibrantly coordinated outfits (GO MOM) we were ready to capture some moments. Emmett loved seeing what his brother was up to as well as making me use every sound and tummy tickle I could throw at him to get a smile. He doesn’t give those away to anyone people! Elliott is such a wonderful big brother making sure Emmett was having a good time! Both bright eyed boys were a joy to play with during the session. As were mom and dad, who I have known from my previous corporate work days. We always have laughs together and love to compare how our lives have changed with kiddos in the house. Especially now dealing with the humor and frustrations of having toddlers. Then since it was Emmett’s one year birthday we of course had to have cake! Smash cake experiences for any one year old can vary. I’ve seen pure elation as well as complete uncertainty on little ones faces. Emmett showed his interest right away in the homemade cake mom baked and iced to match his super adorable outfit including suspenders and a tie. He landed right in the middle of the emotional scale with the smash cake. Not overly impressed, but enough fascination with the taste to keep him going back for more. I say it was a success! Thanks again Dobeys for allowing me into your family time!
Warm Regards,
Lauren
