Ellie is a beautiful, sweet, and very talented Glenwood High School Senior from Chatham, Illinois! I’m so thankful that she reached out to me about her senior photos and after long chats about locations, outfits, and one reschedule due to rain we were ready to go last week! During her session we visited a couple of downtown spots in Springfield full of color such as the graffiti sunflower wall and the Geitl Bros. building. Ellie planned out her outfits based on the locations she chose and did a phenomenal job making herself stand out in these cool parts of town. She has an alluring smile that just draws you in and her warm personality simply adds to this Class of 2018 senior. Not to mention she is an outstanding member of the Glenwood Show Choir and is part of many different shows put on at school. They travel all over the country singing and dancing their way into the hearts of many! How fun!
At Geitl Bros. we played up her burgundy jacket against the green ivy of the building to give such a wonderful POP of color! Plus instructing her to twirl a bit allowed her to let go and enjoy her experience a bit more! Those smiles were the best! We made one more stop downtown to a park-like location at Horace Mann for a few shots around the grounds. I know we were both hoping the sun would be out for her session so we could play with the light a bit, however it remained overcast most of the session. Yet, the lighting was still gorgeous and complimented Ellie in her white, lace topped dress. And with a touch of wind here and there, her delightful locks gently floated in the breeze! I couldn’t have asked for a better model!
We rushed over to Lincoln Memorial Gardens, as this was our final shooting location, to make sure we had plenty of good light since the sun decided not to grace us with it’s presence. I had always heard about this very cool beach along the lake shore with awesome trees and views. I finally found out exactly where it was after shooting a wedding recently nearby. I mentioned it to Ellie and she was all over it! Especially when I told her she would be the very first person I would photograph there! YAY for Firsts! She wore the perfect blue maxi dress that helped show her off against all the green of the gardens and on the fantastic beach. A beach in Illinois, people! We had a blast getting all sandy making sure we got the best photos for her! The wind picked up a tad down by the water, but by this time it was a welcome effect giving the photos a whimsical feeling blowing Ellie’s hair and dress so effortlessly!
I enjoyed my time so much with Ellie and appreciate her thinking of me for these very special photos in her life! I look forward to seeing all the fun she has in her senior year! Congrats and Good Luck in the future!
