When planning your engagement session, it’s always fun to incorporate a meaningful location as the backdrop of your photos. Which is exactly what Kate and Scott did! I met up with this adorable duo in downtown Springfield, Illinois at Obed & Isaac’s Microbrewery, where they had their first date! The beautiful, warm fall evening made the outdoor space perfect to highlight this lovely couple as they sipped their brews. Kate looked fabulous in a burgundy off the shoulder dress, which was flirty and flowy! While Scott brought a classic, trendy look in a fitted navy suit and relaxed buttoned up shirt. These two definitely have style! Kate and Scott sat at the end of the bar, which is the exact spot where their first date began! The big difference now is the big ring Kate is sporting on her finger! We wandered around O’beds for a while as Kate and Scott drank their favorite beer and really enjoyed their time together.

After these cuties finished their brews, we headed across the street to Bicentennial Plaza, where we added a lot of movement to their photos! Kate’s dress was calling for it! Plus, her endearing laugh and the way Scott could coax it out of her made these photos some of my favorites! The wrought iron fence of the governor’s mansion was next on the list. Especially with the extra little surprise of some added fall pumpkins spread about! Kate and Scott took every opportunity to snuggle in close with one another when they could, which was really as much as possible! We finished up their session as the sun was going down at a local park, where the fall colors were beginning to pop. Kate and Scott love being in nature and going on hikes so this location is more their element for sure. They had a quick outfit change with Kate in a delightful short dress with long sleeves. And Scott layered a navy sweater and button down with khaki pants. The relaxed, calm demeanor of this pair made photos so incredibly easy and laid back. They had the most phenomenal pink and orange sunset capping off an amazing session! I cannot wait to capture their summer wedding this year!
