Looking back on Hannah and Don’s lovely summer wedding day at the Wildlife Prairie Park in Hanna City, Illinois I can’t help but think about how deeply in love these two are. So many times we were finished with a photo of this beautiful couple and they were still taking in every moment of their new spouse. Exactly what I love about my job! Their mid-June day was definitely a typical one with HOT weather. Yet, what was unique about this day (and the venue in particular) is the backdrop for this couple and their guests to gaze upon was a rolling pasture with a herd of Bison and Elk. How cool, right?!
Hannah and her ladies were full of so much energy and excitement in the morning as they were getting hair and makeup done. They were reminiscing back on memories and their friendships. And while the girls were primping in one room at the park, Don and his groomsmen were literally in the room right next door prepping their game day fits! But, before the guys got in their suits they added one special detail which was very important…Temporary tattoos of Don’s face! These matched the “Fat Head Don’s” they brought to portraits later as a surprise, which was absolutely hilarious! This crew definitely kept me laughing all day! But, before we technically started bridal party photos, we had to let this bride and groom see each other first. They were both a little nervous, but so ready to see their best friend to help calm those nerves. Once Don turned to see Hannah you couldn’t have wiped the smile off his face if you tried. These two truly get so much joy in each other’s arms.
It was then time for bridal party photos with this awesome group of Hannah and Don’s family and friends! They were all polished with the ladies in different styles of navy dresses and the guys in gray suits and purple ties and matching pocket squares. The girls bouquets were delightful blooms of purples, whites, and navy. During this time, we all laughed so hard! Between the guys and their “Don Heads”, the girls giggling as they were side by side, and of course Hannah and Don having the time of their lives sharing such special moments they will never forget. They snuggled in close when it was their turn for their closeups. Though it was toasty outside, they embraced every second. They even took some time to check out the Bison roaming the grounds. But there is still one important thing we need to do…Let’s get these two married! For that, we have to head to the church!
Hannah and Don chose to hold their nuptials at a church that is near and dear to Hannah and her family’s heart. She grew up in the Trinity Lutheran Church and her father played many important roles within the church so it was very important this be the spot they tied the knot. It was a gorgeous setting for Hannah to make her way down a flower lined aisle with her father to her awaiting groom. The ceremony was filled with meaningful scriptures, prayers for the couple, and traditions. Hannah and Don exchanged rings plus their vows then sealed it all with a kiss. Congrats to Mr. & Mrs. Merriman.
Once these two made it official, we all headed back to Wildlife Prairie Park for the newlyweds to celebrate with their loved ones, many of whom traveled from all across the country. They spent the evening listening to amazing toasts and taking a few spins around the dance floor. If you remember Hannah and Don’s engagement sesh, these two love to swing dance. So they made sure to incorporate this into their first dance! It was stunning! Once the dance floor opened up, I stole Hannah and Don for a few minutes around sunset, even though a few overcast clouds had rolled in. These are some of my favorite moments as it gives these two a chance after a busy day of being the center of attention to be with each other and take the day in. Then it was back to the party to dance the night away! I adore this incredible couple and I’m wishing them continued blessings in their marriage! Cheers to The Merrimans!
