Caitlin and Jake were a breath of fresh air on a hot spring day. Their laid back, ready for anything type of personalities made for a wonderful afternoon in Springfield, Illinois. These two live up in the Chicago area, but thought it would be fun to come south for their engagement session for a different view than when I go north for their wedding. Caitlin and Jake enjoy spending time together at local breweries and had the idea to incorporate this into their photos. So the next step was meeting up with this adorable couple at Obed & Isaacs for a beer! We found a little picnic table and within a few minutes of chatting with these two I knew we were going to have a blast! They shared drinks, laughs, and even made sure to include a photo with an artistic version of Abe Lincoln’s top hat. So fun!

We then headed out to Centennial Park to finish up our time together at sunset. Even though the day turned out to be a beautiful one, we had been concerned about a storm that was supposed to blow into town prior to meeting up. Thankfully Caitlin and Jake said, “Eh, let’s go for it” when I asked them what they wanted to do and they were 100% rewarded with a lovely evening. We had a little bit of a hazy sunset, but pretty enough to show off this couple’s easy going attitude. With a piggyback ride, a few spins, and some kisses I would say their engagement session was a huge success! I’m thrilled to be capturing their big day!
