I met Sarah and Nick in Downtown Springfield, Illinois on a beautiful early October evening last year. This was a feat in itself because currently Sarah and Nick live all the way up in Michigan! Sarah is from the Springfield area, but is in her medical residency up in Michigan. So it was a true honor they drove all the way down to meet me for their engagement session!

We started our time together at one of Sarah’s favorite spots downtown, The Dana Thomas House. She has always loved the architecture of the home and it made for a great backdrop to start their engagement photos. I think Nick started out thinking I was a little crazy making them smooch so much, walk hand in hand, and even do some rocking back and forth while snuggling in close. But, as the session went on, he eased into it and think he might have had a little bit of fun! We then headed over to the IL State Capital where Sarah’s white dress popped against the buildings facade. The sun was even peeking out as these two took in every minute with one another.

After an outfit change from more formal to more relaxed, we hit up a few more local spots around town like the plaza in front of the old state capital and Capital Street, where the building could be seen behind this sweet couple. I finished up with Sarah and Nick on top of a parking garage to capture the fun they have together with the golden glow of sunset. I think this is really when Sarah and Nick’s love really showed off! I’m looking forward to capturing these two on their wedding day this October!
