Alexa and Chris have so many wonderful qualities and passions in common it’s hard to narrow down the list. They are both very thoughtful, kind, are fierce friends, adore the game of baseball/softball, and embrace their loved ones hard. These attributes were all highlighted on their beautiful wedding on a hot August day. Alexa and Chris both included so many friends from their past baseball and softball teams in their bridal party and America’s past time was a huge theme throughout their wedding. From the engraved miniature bat on their head table, to the “Line Up” sheets used for their seating assignments, and even Chris and his guys taking time at the beginning of the day for “Wedding Game Time” photos I thought a pickup game could break out at any moment! I guess when a passion for the game was responsible for bringing these two together, as they each played at UIS, then you have to ensure you pay respect.
Even though their wedding day was extremely hot with feels like temps into the 100’s, Alexa, Chris, and their bridal party were so cooperative and willing to do anything for photos! That made my job super easy! Alexa was absolutely stunning in her timeless satin dress with a belt to bring a little bling to her look. Yet, she kept her comfort level high wearing all white Nike kicks instead of heels! Her ladies were dressed in a shade of Chianti with pops of navy, white, and purple in their bouquets. Chris and his guys cleaned up nicely in navy suits for a clean classic look. Alexa did a first look with her bridesmaids as well as her dad, Doug, and brother, Ian after her mom, Diane helped her daughter get into her dress. Then it was Chris’ turn to see his bride and his smile was priceless. I love first looks! Before the ceremony, I headed outside with the bridal party. We made time working quickly to keep this crew out of the heat for the least amount of time! Although it was hot, it didn’t stop this group from having an absolute blast with one another. Laughter, inside jokes, and just a simple love for friends was on display the entire time! Such a fun bridal party squad!
The ceremony was gorgeous situated outside with a draped arbor and doors for Alexa to enter just before she walked down the aisle with her parents. Chris waited patiently as his soon-to-be wife headed his way. The nuptials were filled with so much love and after exchanging rings, sweet vows, and sealing it all with a kiss this lovely couple was officially pronounced Mr. & Mrs. Mathieu! YAY!
The newlyweds reception lived up to the hype with an energetic entrance by the bridal party, memorable toasts, lovely dances, and sweet treats including a cake made by the bride’s sister, Hannah! The dance floor was packed all night with loved ones creating so many new memories! I did steal Alexa and Chris for a little bit at sunset in order to capture these two together as husband and wife! By this time, Chris had lost his fancy shoes and put on matching white Nikes. Watching the love between these two was something special and I’m so thrilled I could be a part of their awesome day! Cheers to the new Mr. & Mrs. Mathieu!
