Late fall wedding days have a way of slowing everything down in the best possible way. Allison and Sam’s November celebration at The Hesed House in Heyworth felt cozy, joyful, and full of those little in-between moments that make a wedding day so special. The sky stayed mostly overcast with the sun occasionally popping out to say hello, and there was just enough chill in the air to remind everyone that winter wasn’t too far away. Add in the last bits of autumn color still hanging on around the property, and it created such a beautiful backdrop for their day.
Allison spent the morning getting ready in the bridal suite with her small group of girls, with her sister and mom helping her with all the final touches. She was absolutely stunning in her gown and cathedral veil! And Allison chose her favorite flower, tulips, for her bouquet. Typically a spring bloom, I wasn’t sure how that would work for her fall nuptials. However, seeing the pink petals with her autumn inspired bridesmaids colors, it was just magic! Meanwhile, Sam and his crew were getting ready in the groom’s suite on the property, counting down the moments until the day really began.
Allison and Sam decided to do a first look, and we found the sweetest little spot outside surrounded by gorgeous fall colors and texture. When they saw each other for the first time, the nerves melted away and it was just the two of them. They read private vows to one another, and I’m not exaggerating when I say there probably wasn’t a dry eye anywhere nearby—including mine behind the camera. One of my favorite things about Allison throughout the day was her adorable reaction whenever she got excited. She would literally squat all the way down and let out the biggest squeal of happiness. It was the most genuine, joyful expression of how excited she was to be marrying Sam, and honestly it made everyone around her smile.
We headed outside with the bridal party for some photos, but a few raindrops tried to crash the party. After a quick pause indoors, the skies gave us another chance and we were able to get back outside. We spent some extra time wandering the property with just Allison and Sam, soaking up the beautiful autumn scenery. Watching these two together was the sweetest—they were fully present, laughing, hugging, and just enjoying every minute of their wedding day.
Their ceremony took place outside with family and friends gathered around and gorgeous fall foliage all around them. The energy was a mix of excitement, emotion, and so much joy as Allison and Sam said their “I do’s.” After exchanging rings, they sealed it all with a kiss and officially became husband and wife. After family photos, we snuck the newlyweds away for a few “just married” portraits before another round of rain tried to move in. Totally worth it. Under the soft gray sky, Allison and Sam laughed, twirled, and even pulled off a dramatic dip that felt like the perfect celebration of the moment they became Mr. and Mrs. Flack.
The reception that followed was packed with fun moments and a few surprises for their guests. During cocktail hour, Allison and Sam had a magician entertaining everyone with card tricks—which had people laughing and gathering around to see what he’d do next. Once the party officially kicked off, the newlyweds cut their cake and shared heartfelt toasts from Allison’s mom, Sam’s sister, and the Best Man. Each speech was filled with sweet stories and lots of love for the couple. Allison and Sam then shared their first dance as husband and wife, followed by a really special dance between Allison and her dad that had everyone feeling the moment. And just when guests thought the fun couldn’t get any better, Allison and Sam started tossing custom t-shirts out into the crowd for lucky guests to catch. Safe to say it was the perfect way to celebrate an unforgettable day and the brand new Mr. and Mrs. Flack.
