I am a wedding and portrait photographer who keeps things light, fun, and full of energy. I’m based out of Springfield, Illinois however I love traveling all over the midwest and beyond.

Lisa & Greg have known one another longer than they even knew! These two were acquaintances throughout grade school and summers at the community pool. They even made their way through Springfield High in the same building, but still only as classmates, nothing more. Yet, life took them in different directions. But it wasn’t until Greg had reached out to Lisa to reconnect so many years later when things finally made so much sense. These two have personalities which simply click. Lisa doesn’t hold back in her silliness, outspokenness, or her truth. Greg keeps it real, but he’s one of the most selfless people I’ve met, making sure Lisa and their children are taken care of every step of the way. Yet, one of their biggest twists came in their long history, Greg’s mom told me during the reception when she brought me over to a photo displayed on a table, when Greg was helping Lisa move and they found a photo that linked them all the way back to the same daycare class!!! Talk about fate!
This lovely pair booked their reception venue at Arlington’s in Springfield, Illinois first. Then, they were looking for a special spot for their ceremony when they landed on the newly renovated Abbey at the Historic Ursuline Academy. They became the first couple to tie the knot in the ceremony venue since opening their doors! How special! Lisa and her maid of honor, Jackie, got ready in the Abbey’s beautiful bridal suite in the morning. These ladies have been best friends for as long as they can remember, making this time so laid back and easy-going! I’ve known Lisa for a number of years as well, so that helped to keep things light and fun! Lisa was absolutely stunning in her floral beaded gown, that sparkled with her every move! Simply gorgeous! Greg got ready at the home with his brother and best man, Mike. He was looking sharp with his navy suit with navy & pink polka dot tie. When it came time, Lisa and Greg decided to see one another in a first look in front of The Abbey, which was filled with so much emotions! These two were so happy to hold one another and see the other. It was such a special moment.
We then brought together this lovely looking bridal party for some wonderful photos in front of the historic building! This party of four may have been small, but they were hilarious! We had a blast and their delightful blue hues were the perfect backdrop for the pops of colorful spring colors and textures of the bouquets! Then it was time for Lisa and Greg to have a few moments for photos! This duo took every second to enjoy their quiet time together. With two kids at home, they understand how precious it is. We were lucky and caught a few trees still blooming and took advantage of their enchanting colors. Now it was time to get these two married!
The Abbey at the Historic Ursuline Academy is charming with petite wooden pews making way for Landon and Madeline, their kiddos to stroll in. As Greg waited patiently for Lisa to make her grand entrance down the aisle with her dad. Lisa’s brother, Brad, officiated the wedding, setting the bar high with his opening line of, ““Mawage. Mawage is wot bwings us together today”, from the Princess Bride. A solid way to begin a ceremony in my opinion! Especially for this couple! Although there were laughs throughout the day, including during the ceremony, once Lisa and Greg began their vows, I’m not sure there was a dry eye in the chapel. They spoke from the heart and soul bringing so much emotion into the room. Even I was fighting to see through my tears from behind my camera. These two exchanged rings and sealed it all with a kiss! They were then announced Mr. & Mrs. Shelton!!!
After the ceremony, I took the newlyweds over to the one spot Greg requested, which was Capitol Street for a shot with the Illinois State Capitol Building. These two twirled and dipped into some beautiful shots downtown as newlyweds! We then headed over to Horace Mann to help with blocking the high winds we were having. These two are simply full of all the fun and good times sharing so many laughs and goofiness around the pond. These are definitely some of my favorites! We headed back over to Arlington’s, where the couple was having their reception, to meet up with their two sweet children for a few family photos! This adorable little family couldn’t be any cuter and I loved that we gave ourselves time to capture these moments for them on this special day! Lisa & Greg’s reception was intimate and filled with some many people who love and support them. The night had awesome toasts and lovely dances including a family dance with the kids to the classic song, “Baby Shark”! Perfection! The dance floor was full all night, which I expected nothing less! I’m so happy for this incredible couple and thrilled for their family to begin this new chapter of their lives! Cheers to The Sheltons!
