From the moment I laid eyes on Sarah’s bridal details the morning of her and Nick’s wedding, I knew this would be a stunning, timeless, and classy event! I actually made it to the hotel room to photograph this beautiful bride’s details before I even saw her that day as she was getting all dolled up at the salon. Her elegant and sleek gown, along with the gold lined invitations, and blinged out earrings all screamed chic! Then, when Sarah entered the room with her hair swept back on one side with a delicate hair piece, she had that undoubtedly old Hollywood style! You add in the bridesmaid’s champagne colored dresses and you have a glamorous look all around. Nick held his own with the classy and dapper look in a black suit and matching tie. His groomsmen followed his lead with the same style to round out a pretty good looking bridal party. Before we knew it, the time had come to head over to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Springfield, Illinois to get these two married.
Sarah and Nick chose not to see one another prior to the ceremony, yet Sarah did want to give her dad the opportunity to have a first look. It was a sweet moment in the day as this was his second daughter to get married at Blessed Sacrament and it was a delightful father/daughter memory for these two to hold on to. I’m not sure, though, if it could top when Sarah and her dad made their way down the long aisle towards Nick, who was patiently and excitingly waited, as the organ and violin rang through the church. What a moment! The nuptials were filled with beautiful music, traditions, and faith. Sarah and Nick spoke their vows, exchanged rings, and sealed it all with a kiss before making their way back up the aisle as a married couple!
Following the ceremony, we headed downtown to Horace Mann with a lovely bridge and building for bridal party photos. It was definitely a bit chilly and windy, however this bridal party kept spirits high and we had a blast showering this couple with love! After a few photos of the newlyweds, we went over to one of Sarah’s favorite spots in Springfield…Washington Park! Although we had word that there was a pumpkin carving event happening at the park that day, Sarah wanted to give it a shot to capture her and Nick’s wedding photos in a location in the park she loved. With soaring columns and a still lush garden, the new Mr. & Mrs. Policicchio looked right at home in each other’s arms! We had a little bit of sprinkling rain to contend with, but it passed quickly and we captured some absolutely gorgeous images for this amazing couple!
Then it was time to head over to Erin’s Pavilion in Springfield to kick off Sarah and Nick’s reception! The tables were adorned with captivating gold candelabras, towering blooms of Hydrangeas, and a set of marquee letters in the bride and groom’s initials as a backdrop for the dance floor. The newlyweds took a few spins around the floor with one another, as well as Sarah’s dad and Nick’s mom. They heard some heartfelt toasts and then got the party started! They even provided fun light-up sunglasses and headbands to make the most out of their time with their guests. Even though we didn’t get sunset photos due to the rain clouds that rolled in, we still snuck this couple outside for some sparkler photos and they were simply magical! What a way for me to end my time with this wonderful couple! I’m wishing Sarah and Nick all the blessings in the world in their marriage and I’m so excited for them to start this next chapter in their relationship! Cheers to The Policicchios!
