From the moment I met Kendra and Jacob for their engagement session this winter I knew there was love in the air. These two have an effortless admiration for one another and it shows with simple glances they share. They met about 15 years ago while attending UIS and over most of their relationship they were long distance as each of them pursued their education followed by their careers. What a commitment already! So when it came time for their wedding day I had a feeling this was going to be one that I would remember forever! Kendra and Jacob planned to have their big day out at Erin’s Pavilion in Springfield, Illinois with a trip to Little Flower Catholic Church for their ceremony. I began the morning at Erin’s with the hustle and bustle of Kendra and her ladies getting hair and makeup done. Kendra’s sweet and genuine personality draws you in immediately. When it came time to get her dressed she was absolutely radiant in her floral appliqué gown. The dusty sage bridesmaids dresses were a fun change of pace and looked incredible with the white florals with a few woodsy pops. Kendra and her mom, Carolyn, had a few lovely moments together as she helped her daughter into her gown. Jacob could not let his bride out do him too much was looking very fancy in his steel blue suit and white tie. Jacob chose to have his brother as his best man as well and friends, who have been part of his life for a long time.
Before we knew it, the time had come for the nuptials. The church filled up with loved ones and the moment where Jacob could see Kendra for the first time was here. As soon as she came around the corner arm in arm with her father and step father, Jacob’s jaw dropped. Kendra fought tears back at the sight of Jacob and it was such an incredible memory. The ceremony was filled with meaningful words, tradition, and faith. The couple exchanged rings, pledged their vows, and sealed it all with a kiss. Congrats to the new Mr. & Mrs. House! We headed downtown after family photos for a few photos at Horace Mann. Little did we know that there was a big car show going on downtown surrounding the area so with people walking all over the area we made the trip there very quick. I still love the photos we got of everyone. We then headed back to Erin’s with the newlyweds to complete bridal party photos near the venue. To finish up portrait time we headed down to one of my favorite spots in the park…The Willow trees! I loved this time of the day since it was just Kendra and Jacob and they had a few quiet moments to share with each other. The willows were on point with the sun peeking through and then gently enveloping the new Mr. & Mrs. We had a good laugh when Kendra asked if she could get a few individual photos in the willows and Jacob’s response was, “Oh you want to be a swamp princess, don’t you!” And her response was, “Of course I do!” These two and their quirky sense of humor made the day so enjoyable.
Then it was time for the reception to begin! Kendra and Jacob made their grand entrance into a room filled with their loved ones and so many smiles. They shared their first dance, graciously listened to special toasts, and made sure to try and welcome every guest they could to let them know how thankful they were to see them. Kendra danced with both her father and step-father in two emotional moments that didn’t leave very many dry eyes. Jacob and his mom had a delightfully choreographed dance complete with spins and box stepping. How fun! Then it was time to dance the night away! I adore this couple and I am praying for many blessings in their long and beautiful marriage! Cheers to Mr. & Mrs. House!
