Becca and Trace’s rustic and rural wedding day was just want I imagined for these two. They both grew up or continue to work around the farm. They are a rodeo-loving couple, who takes every chance they can to show love to their support systems. And they adore a good belt buckle bigger than the state of Illinois! Becca and Trace are the epitome of what it means to be laid back and go with the flow. Which is what makes me love them so much! I began the beautiful mid-August day with Becca and her ladies as they were getting their hair and makeup done. This bride was all smiles and couldn’t have been more excited about what the future holds. Luckily for me, I have worked with Becca years before her special day, when I photographed her brother, Nathan’s wedding to Jenny. So I have been very much looking forward to seeing all of her family again. The lovely burnt orange bridesmaids dresses and pops of creams and turquoise were throughout the accessories and bride’s details. When it came time to get Becca dressed she was absolutely stunning in her floral appliqué gown with hints of sparkles and leaf embroidery. When she added the cathedral length veil, which was her something borrowed from her sister-in-law, Jenny, she seriously could have been on the cover of a bridal magazine!
Then it was Trace’s turn. In true cowboy fashion, he donned his blue jeans, a crisp button-down collared shirt, a tan suit jacket, and his trusty hat. And of course, he couldn’t forget his belt buckle, which was custom made with his and Becca’s brand. If you look closely, you can see his “T” for Trace, their “H” for Huston, and her “R” for Rebecca in the brand. This amazing touch was found throughout the day on the groomsmen’s hats, the save the dates, and their iron brand seared on several items of meaning. The time then came for Becca and Trace to see one another. Becca couldn’t resist giving Trace a little pinch on the butt to get his attention before he turned around to see his bride! They took a few moments to check one another out and steal a few kisses before we began portrait time. Their crew brought a fun element to the day and looked awesome with their combination of orange, tan, and fall colors in the bouquets, which were handmade by the bride! And even though it was hot and a tad windy, everyone did fantastic and their true joy showed! Once we were done with the whole bridal party, we took some time with just Becca and Trace and they were simply delightful together. The way he looks at her, takes her hand, and the way she giggles at all things he does are so genuinely sweet. And boy…did we have fun playing with that veil!
Before we knew it, the ceremony was upon us. Their nuptials took place right in front of a tree-lined pond surrounded by their loved ones. Becca’s dad walked her down the aisle as Trace held back his emotions. Many graceful words were spoken, rings were exchanged, and they sealed their love with a kiss. Congrats to the new Mr. & Mrs. Huston! They exited to their getaway vehicle, a semi-truck from the farm where Trace works. Their guests stood and watched as they rode off and Trace gave them a big honk from the cab! When they returned we finished up family formals before they entered into their reception. Their decor consisted of centerpieces of mason jars filled with wheat along with other florals, windmills (similar to the one found during their engagement session), and cows which these two adore. I mean come on did you peep Becca’s nails?! They were showered with blessings during their toasts, took a few spins around the dance floor with each other and family, and just spent every moment enjoying their evening. Before I let them go for the day, however, I had to steal them for a few sunset photos. We had been waiting for the perfect lighting around the pond and this was it! The pure joy these two had in one another’s arms was something magical. I feel so incredibly blessed to have captured it all! I’m sending all my blessings to the new Mr. & Mrs. Huston!
