Kicking off the summer wedding season takes a couple ready for some fun in the sun! And Darby and Adam were just the right couple! These two planned a Memorial Day weekend wedding for the books which brought together so many loved ones from all over the place including Spain and Finland! Darby and Adam’s immense love for each other shows in every look they take towards one another and in their actions throughout their special day. They are both kindhearted and relaxed making their big day one to remember!
If Darby was nervous the morning of her wedding she definitely wasn’t showing it! Between her beautiful ladies as well as her mom, Adam’s mom, and her grandmother getting ready there were laughs being shared all over. Darby looked absolutely stunning in her floral appliquéd dress with off the shoulder straps. Her hair was in a whimsical braid complete with baby’s breath making her the most gorgeous bride! Her bridesmaids wore various styles of pastel blue dresses (and even one jumpsuit) and when her brother, Connor met up with the girls at the church, as the man of honor, her crew was complete. Adam and his groomsmen took the morning to relax and catch up as only the guys can do on the morning of wedding day! Even Adam and Darby’s furbaby, Felix, hung out looking dapper in his tuxedo bandana. Adam cleaned up nice himself with his light gray suit and blue tie, which matched with his guys. I would say everyones style, including the bride and groom, was on point for this delightful event!
The ceremony took place at the First Christian Church in downtown Springfield, Illinois, where Darby’s great great grandparents got married! Her mom told me they sadly had no pictures of their wedding day, but how incredibly special is that little detail?!? As Darby entered the church and was walked down the aisle with her father, the moment of Adam finally getting to see his bride came to fruition. These two spoke their vows, exchanged rings, and sealed it all with a kiss! Introducing the new Mr. & Mrs. Ely!
After a few photos at the church, we headed back to Sherman for bridal party photos! Darby and Adam’s crew were ready to party and brought all the fun to photos! And between the couple, their squad, and the light at this location…I’m actually obsessed with how their photos turned out! Especially went it was just the newlyweds. Darby knows just how to snuggle into Adam in the perfect way to get a genuine reaction out of him. And Adam knows just what to say to make Darby’s huge smile come out. I adore these two and I’m thrilled for their new marriage! Before finishing up photos, we made a quick trip over to Adam’s parent’s home for a couple of pictures with Felix and his now married mom and dad! It really is the tuxedo bandana for me! What a good boy!
The reception was at Poe’s on the Hill in Sherman, Illinois. This beautiful banquet hall was decorated with touches of gold, greenery, and of course a little nod to sweet Felix with the cake as well as cups for their guests. There were some lovely dances (which even included a mother/son song sung by Adam’s aunt), many heartfelt toasts, before the party really got going! Yet, before I left for the evening, I had to steal Darby and Adam for a few sunset photos while we still had some golden light! The glow behind these two was perfect and I couldn’t imagine a better way to end my time with Mr. and Mrs. Ely! Cheers to this special couple!
