I finally had the chance to meet Brooke and Carter for their engagement session in Springfield, Illinois! They currently live in Tennessee, but both grew up in the Springfield area. And astonishingly this pair have known one another since 6th grade! They went to high school together and began dating after their senior trip! Brooke decided to go to Ole Miss and Carter to ISU, however they said their first year of college, Carter was making trips down to visit Brooke so often that it made more sense for him to transfer to Ole Miss himself, which is what he ended up doing. These two have been pretty inseparable since! Because they were in town for a long weekend we planned their engagement session. However, the time they were here for was during a heat advisory and the “feels like” temps were going to be around 110 degrees! YIKES! So in a attempt to beat the heat we moved their photos from the evening to early in the morning. I’m not sure that we won the battle over the ridiculously hot weather, but Brooke and Carter were amazing sports and didn’t mind snuggling up close for their photos!

We decided on Lincoln Memorial Gardens since this couple loves the outdoors and going on hikes. Brooke and Carter are extremely playful and up for anything, which made my job super easy. We wandered around the gardens finding the good light and even capturing a few silhouettes in the daytime using the lake as the background! If you know me…silhouettes are my jam! So even in the daylight we made it happen! We finished up with Brooke and Carter downtown for a different view at a beautiful local church as well as some ivy-covered brick buildings that Brooke loves! The energy these two brought on a sweltering day was just what I needed to make the morning session work in the heat! I adored every minute and I cannot wait for their big day this fall!
