Driving up to Michaela and Alex’s home to meet them for their engagement photos in Greenfield, Illinois I immediately saw a beautiful red barn in the distance and I was crossing my fingers that would be part of their photos! And my excitement grew not only to meet and work with Michaela and Alex, but to have that barn as their backdrop when I found out that was part of their family’s farm! YAY! Michaela, a registered nurse, and Alex, who works for FS plus helping out on the family farm, are both laid back and were ready to spend the evening together for photos. We had the perfect temperature for our time together with some overcast clouds and a little breeze for an early summer session. Michaela is a petite thing standing next to Alex, who towers over her, but they are just too darn cute together and she fits perfectly in his arms. We started off by the pond in their more casual and relaxed outfits. They were full of laughs and so easy to chat with. We then headed over to another cool white barn and had some fun there before a quick outfit change to a gorgeous sage green dress for Michaela and crisp button down shirt and jeans for Alex. As we walked from place to place they told me about their relationship and how they met at a party about 5 years ago, they have two cats they adore, and they enjoy getting outside and hunting together when they can.

I finished up with this lovely couple in front of that amazing red barn and right around this time is when the sun decided it would peek out from behind the clouds around sunset time!! Michaela and Alex were in their element next to the barn and the tall grasses and it all was pure perfection! These two definitely had a blast being a bit goofy with each other along with all of the snuggling up I had them do. I had an amazing time getting to know this wonderful pair and hearing about all of their wedding day plans has me even more pumped to be a part of their fall day this year!
