After photographing Brittney and Nicholas’ engagement session in the summer of 2020 I knew they were my kind of people! They are both laid back, super sweet, and ready to have a good time. And that’s exactly what we did as we wandered around some of my favorite locations in Springfield, Illinois. This adorable couple doesn’t even live in Springfield, but drove to me in order to get a unique look for their photos! Told you they were sweet! Fast forward to their upcoming spring wedding on a date that for Brittney, the math teacher, was the perfect date…4/3/21! The most special countdown to their new beginning as husband and wife and I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of it. Well as we all know, life happens and due to a happy miracle for my family, we found out we were expecting a new baby after a long journey of trying to add another member. Since my due date was only a few short weeks before Brittney and Nich’s big day I had to let them know I would be unable to photograph their wedding personally. However, because I wanted to make sure this incredible couple was still taken care of and perhaps find a way for me to continue to serve them, I recommended my close, amazingly talented photog friend, Jill Gum! Jill has been a mentor and business confidant to me for some time and I suggested to Brittney and Nich the idea of having Jill step in my place to photograph the wedding day while still allowing me to work with them following their nuptials by editing and blogging their moments. These two provided me with the gift of saying “YES” to this idea and graciously entrusted me (and Jill) to provide them with the best experience possible. And I couldn’t be more grateful! So although I was not physically present on their big day, here are some of the major highlights Jill shared with me after she captured all of the new Mr. & Mrs. Tomlinson’s intimate memories.
The day began with Brittney getting ready at The Cannery in Eureka, Illinois, their charming industrial venue, surrounded by the lovely ladies in her life. The chosen wedding color of lilac was on full display with the bridesmaid’s flowy dresses complimenting Brittney’s one of a kind dress she personally designed herself!! She combined different aspects of dresses she loved to customize the look she wanted. And might I just say, Brittney in this dress was PERFECTION! She was absolutely flawless and I’m just seeing the photos. So I’m sure in person she was a vision! And Nich brought his own dapper look with a light gray suit, lilac bowtie, and leather suspenders. He couldn’t be completely outshined by his bride. Brittney and Nich chose to do a first look and Jill mentioned that both the bride and groom were a little nervous in the morning before they saw each other. However, once they each laid eyes on one another they both calmed down and enjoyed every moment of the day. That’s why I love first looks! No one can settle you down more on the biggest day of your lives than the love of your life!
Brittney and Nich, along with their bridal party spent and amazing amount of time with Jill, and second photographer and friend, Lydia, for photos and boy…is it going to be hard to narrow these down! Between the beautiful spring weather, the fun bridal party, and seeing how totally in love Brittney and Nich are, seems like their day was pretty magical! I definitely cannot forget to how Jill mentioned the entire bridal party was completely AWESOME, being attentive and helpful throughout the entire day. A true reflection of the people Brittney and Nich are. And of course it got better when guests, who were buzzing with excitement to witness these two tie the knot, started to gather in the courtyard of The Cannery where the nuptials were planned. As the bridal party began to meet Nich at the wooden arbor draped with soft cloth and greenery the couple had a very special ring bearer and two flower girls leading the way for the bride. Their grandfather and grandmothers! So sweet and unique! At 5pm on 4/3/21 (catch the numbers from Brittney?) surrounded by so many loved ones, Brittney and Nich spoke their vows to and pledged their life-long commitment to one another as church bells chimed in the background. Once they sealed it all with a kiss, the couple was pronounced husband and wife!
From what Jill expressed, Brittney and Nich were up for photos whenever they could be done! So after the ceremony, they captured a few more gorgeous images of the newlyweds! They even shared one of their favorite beverages (which they also did during engagement photos)…A Root Beer! So glad they carried on the tradition! To finish off the day, the couple hosted a delightful reception full of toasts from their closest people, shared special dances, and dove into a delicious cake. Yet, before the sun went down, Brittney and Nich snuck away for a few final sunset photos! Golden hour is always my favorite time and these two took total advantage of their quiet time together. They even decided to pop the cork on some bubbly to cheers their marriage!
I am overly thrilled for Brittney and Nich as they move to this next chapter of their relationship! And I’m very humbled they trusted me and Jill to take the best care of them, even when I could not physically capture their biggest day. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You is still not enough! Cheers to the new Mr. & Mrs. Tomlinson!
