On the day of Christi & Tyler’s engagement session, the forecast was not looking promising. After a summer with months of no rain, of course, life decided to be tricky during the busiest time of year for portraits and drop a few weeks of rain in Springfield, IL to keep us on our toes. Christi and I were in touch trying to determine whether to move forward with photos or reschedule. Unfortunately, the backup date we had on the calendar was also showing rain. So we decided to move their session up by an hour and try to get photos in before the skies opened up.

When I met up with this adorable couple it was raining pretty good. However, we made a last-minute location change to a covered spot, and Christi and Tyler had the best attitude! They were game to make their session work however we could and that allowed me to relax and simply capture their obvious joy being engaged! And luckily for us, the rain was on and off so we could sneak out into nature for a few minutes here and there. We then headed over to the Illinois State Capital since Christi loved the beautiful architecture. Tyler doesn’t have to say much to get Christi to start giggling, which I love!

We took one more chance on a different location and an outfit change as we went over to Washington Park. We couldn’t resist the fall colors at the park…Rain or no rain! And getting Christi and Tyler into their favorite season was perfection! The happiness they both showed being with the one they love surrounded by beautiful yellow trees was wonderful to capture. This amazing couple pushed through the bad weather hand in hand and were rewarded with some amazing photos showing off their special relationship! Congrats on your engagement and I’m thrilled to be apart of their wedding next year!
