There is something that can be said about a couple who walks through life having a blast together all while remembering to hold the sentimental aspects they love dearly about their lives in the highest regard! Rachel & Todd are an easy-going couple who wanted to have their engagement session at many of the spots that mean the most to them in their relationship! We visited each of their family’s farms as well as Rachel’s grandparent’s home where they got engaged! Todd proposed to Rachel out by the flag pole, which overlooks Bluffs, Illinois as the family looked on from the house. Todd told me their family almost gave away his plans to Rachel as they were all so excited to see the proposal but Rachel kept going into the house while they were trying to get a look out the window! Too funny! So making sure we took photos in that meaningful spot was a must!

We also had several background guests at the farm like goats and cows making appearances as they were trying to figure out what the heck we were doing and why we didn’t have food for them! But since these two grew up surrounded by farm animals it was nothing new for them. And not to mention Todd is a farmer, who works with family and friends to keep the farm moving while Rachel is off saving the world as a nurse. Spending this overcast evening with this laid back couple was just what I needed as I’m getting back into shooting after many weeks staying at home due to Covid-19. Having Rachel and Todd being willing to get out of the house for their photos was such a blessing!

We finished up out at Rachel’s family home down by a beautiful pond that wrapped around the entire backside of the house! It was so calm and lovely with yellow flowers to give a pop of color and accent their country-style plaid shirts! And of course, since they are a “House Divided” with Rachel being a Cubs fan and Todd being a Cardinals fan, we had to add their rival shirts just for fun! I don’t think their deep-seated team roots are going to keep these two apart though!

Rachel and Todd were amazing to photograph and I am looking forward to being a part of their wedding day!

These two plus goats and cows made our time together a blast! They even had a wonderful tribute to Todd’s grandfather who built three crosses out in his pasture before he passed away. I love the silhouette of Rachel & Todd with the crosses in the background.
