I am a wedding and portrait photographer who keeps things light, fun, and full of energy. I’m based out of Springfield, Illinois however I love traveling all over the midwest and beyond.

Meeting up with Brigid and Patrick in the Warehouse District in Peoria, Illinois last Friday was the perfect way to end the work week! As we walked around scouting out locations for their engagement photos to begin I was eager to find out more about them and their relationship since this was the first time we met! Technically we met for the first time at a bridal show in Peoria, but with how busy the shows are I don’t always count it since I don’t get the one on one time I adore! However, I definitely remember Brigid from her gorgeous fiery curly hair! This lovely couple began dating when they were in high school and continued their relationship as they each chose a college leading them over 4 hours away from Peoria in separate directions! Crazy, right?! Now they are both working as engineers back in Peoria and preparing for their summer wedding.
During our session, Brigid and Patrick were amazingly quick learners as I guided them through various poses and prompting to get a few laughs out of them! They said they needed all the help they could for photos, but once they got the gist of my style they were rockstars! They decided to keep their outfit choice easy with only one and they chose perfectly! Brigid with her strong Irish roots and beautiful locks looked awesome in a teal green lace dress and Patrick’s dark jeans and light blue button-down shirt gave the pair a polished look that I loved! We found a few little tucked in spots for photos and even a wonderful courtyard behind the building where Brigid used to live.
We finished their session up on Grandview Drive, which overlooks the river. We were hoping for the sun to peek out from behind the overcast clouds, however we didn’t get that lucky. Yet, because of the clouds, we were able to get a better view than we would have of this cute couple with the river behind them if the sun was shining. So I’ll chalk it up as a win! Brigid and Patrick are incredible and even embraced the fact that the Covid-19 pandemic may have an effect on their original wedding plans by taking a few photos in their masks. They are radiating positivity which will serve them so well as a married couple! I cannot wait to capture their wedding day no matter how big or small!
Warm Regards,
Seriously, Brigid & Patrick were so fun to wander downtown Peoria with!
It did hit me later, that although Covid-19 has really changed so much of our normal life, Brigid & Patrick’s photos in the courtyard would not have been possible if life was as it used to be. The courtyard is part of a big restaurant and bar area and if it had been packed with people on a Friday we wouldn’t have been able to take some of my most favorite photos from their session. Finding the positives, right?!
