We are a group of local photographer friends who have set out to document a slice of our lives during this time in our world. Our project is called “THE FAMILY WAS HERE,” and is taken from the original project by KETTI PHOTOGRAPHY called “THE KIDS WERE HERE.” The idea is simple but gives such a strong message: to document what our family leaves behind during our day to day lives as we are “to stay” at home.

The purpose is to not only document the “messes,” but to capture a part of our lives and our children’s lives and to record these irreplaceable memories. And although these things may seem trivial today or even a burden at times, these “messes” are the ones that will mean so much to us tomorrow and will be some of the most important images we will ever photograph, besides those of our children. We hope this encourages others to take photographs at this time and to remember how these “messes” will soon be wonderful memories.

We are a family of three trying to figure this unplanned and uncertain time at home out together. As a photographer, who works from home, the change for me has been sharing my work time (and computer) with my husband and our kiddo. Luckily for us, our six-year-old daughter, Harper is pretty good at keeping herself busy. She’s creative and energetic so being stuck at home has its negatives and positives. And of course, I cannot leave our two pups out of the mix as they are having to adjust to everyone being home ALL THE TIME! However, with the extra snuggles, I don’t think they are too upset about it!
