Sometimes you are just in the right place at the right time! This is exactly how Aimee and Kurtis met when they went out for drinks with friends at a local Springfield, Illinois watering hole, D.H. Brown’s. Kurtis had asked a friend who that girl was, pointing out Aimee, and from that evening the pair started chatting. It wasn’t necessarily love at first sight as Aimee and Kurtis first became close friends and remained that way for a while. Over time, these friends realized they both had deeper feelings for one another and decided to take the next step. And the rest is history!

So when I met Aimee and Kurtis at the same spot where they first met for their engagement session, I was excited to spend the late afternoon with them! Aimee is has a beautiful soul and her style matches! She was gorgeous in her flowy white dress, hot pink suede jacket, and bling around her neck! Kurtis, with his tall stature, compared to Aimee, is very sweet, yet was not AS pumped about photos like Aimee! Which can be the mood of many grooms. Yet, I told him by the end of the session he would have to admit that he had a good time! Challenge Accepted! After a beer (or two) at the bar, we headed over to the next spot that has meaning to this couple. Aimee and Kurtis both worked at the Illinois State Capitol when they began their relationship. Although Aimee has a different position outside of the Capitol, Kurtis still works closely with the IL Senate. Needless to say, this building has played a huge role in their lives and they wanted to capture it. Since they have a connection to the building, we were able to have broader access to the Capitol, which was amazing! From the grand staircase to “The Rail”, and of course the incredible rotunda of the building. We finished up our time together on top of a parking garage overlooking the Capitol. Although it was a chilly spring evening, Aimee and Kurtis rocked it and finished the session the best way you can…With an epic dip!

I had a blast photographing Aimee and Kurtis for their e-session! I’m sure if you asked Kurtis if he enjoyed himself, he would play it off like he could have found something better to do! However, by looking at their images, I know for a fact he gave in to the experience and made the most of this special time with Aimee! I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to capture Aimee and Kurtis on their wedding day this summer too! Congrats!
