I may have only just met Kayla and Geoff recently, but it felt like we had known one another forever! These two are incredibly sweet and kind as we headed to downtown Springfield, Illinois on a cold snowy day for their engagement session. Kayla and Geoff were looking adorable as they snuggled up close for photos…And to keep as warm as possible! Although they both said they weren’t “good at taking photos together”, I would say they were pretty much naturals and could have fooled me! We visited both the old and current Illinois State Capitols and the dusting of snow simply brought some magic to the engagement session. But, of course, watching Geoff continuously make Kayla giggle and laugh made photos even more fun in the chilly air.

After spending time downtown, we went over to Lewis Memorial Park so we could get the full effect of the snow-covered scenery. Although I know Kayla and Geoff were freezing, especially since the sun didn’t really greet us with its presence like we had hoped, they were amazing sports and had faith it would all be worth it! Plus the excitement of having a couple of furry friends meet up with us to close out our time together I think warmed everyone’s heart! Kayla and Geoff’s eight-month-old puppies, Sadie and Cooper joined us for a few family photos. What better way to finish up a session than with not one, but TWO extremely cute pups? This brother and sister pair brought the energy and the laughs! I’m not sure which was better, the photos we actually got them to sit or the “outtakes” of them wrapping Kayla and Geoff up with their leashes?! You be the judge, but I think I love them all! When the sweet furbabies had enough we gave them some treats and snuggles before sending them home with grandma. I took a few more minutes with the soon-to-be-married couple before it got too dark! Then when all of our hands were frozen…We called it a fantastic day! Thanks to Kayla and Geoff for pushing through the cold for a wonderful winter session and my first engagement session of 2020! Just remember, we will probably be wishing for cooler weather on your August wedding day! Either way, I cannot wait to be a part of it!
