How many couples can say their wedding date was chosen by the stars? For Bhavini and Stan, their date was calculated according to the best astrological date for their union. 7.7.19 would make them pretty lucky in love wouldn’t you say?! These two crossed paths over six years ago as they were both attending Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, as Bhavini’s best friend, Roma shared in her toast. They quickly became close as they had a shared passion…Running! And this pair has been running together since! Moving to Chicago together after college and most recently, to Irvine, California in May. Nothing like a big move right before your wedding (which is also taking place in another city) to make things interesting, right?! Yet, they made it work to ensure both of their families and friends could be included in their meaningful day! The couple chose to hold their ceremony and reception at the beautiful Erin’s Pavilion in Springfield, Illinois. This made life so much easier having everything in one location! Plus with Bhavini’s Indian heritage and Hindu traditions being incorporated into her and Stan’s day, it was definitely going to be one to remember! Because Bhavini knew the in-depth time it would take getting her ready in the morning, we decided she would just meet me at Erin’s already dressed to impress in her saree for the first look with Stan. But, I was able to photograph all of her accessories as well as both her saree and reception gown the evening before the wedding, which made me so happy to capture all of her awesome details. However, when Bhavini arrived at the venue, my goodness was she gorgeous with all of those details coming together! Bhavini was adorned in a red saree with lovely gold beading throughout. The intricate details on her dress plus the incredible jewelry and headscarf she wore were total perfection! The red in her attire traditionally signifies happiness, the rising sun, and prosperity. Stan was also dressed in a time-honored Indian outfit complete with a gold jacket and red fitted trousers known as Churidas to complement his bride. Their first look was memorable and full of smiles as both Stan and Bhavini laid eyes on each other for the first time! From there…It was portrait time!
The couple decided to keep things simple and not have a bridal party. This meant plenty of opportunities for photos with the soon to be newlyweds and to get to know Bhavini and Stan better! Leading up to the wedding, I did not have the chance to meet Stan and I only met Bhavini one time when she was a bridesmaid for her cousin, Vikash’s wedding almost three years ago to his beautiful bride, Leslie. We chatted by phone plenty of times as we approached the big day, yet it was nice to have a bit of time with them before the chaos of the wedding day began. We took a drive over to Lincoln Memorial Gardens to help get the couple out of the hot summer sun. Also, I think they enjoyed sharing these quiet moments together even if they were quick. Bhavini and Stan are adorable in each other’s arms and I’m grateful they played along with the ideas I had to showcase their love.
The ceremony was filled with Hindu rituals and traditions including the exchange of flower garlands, the gifting of a necklace from Stan to Bhavini, Stan placing a red dot of powder on Bhavini’s forehead to symbolize she was married, and the exchanging of rings. The couple married on a Mandap, which is a structure built for the couple to stand under created with flowers and greenery where they were surrounded by family including their parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, and cousins. The whole family is involved with this ceremony, which I loved! Both sides of their family took turns giving their blessings to the pair throughout the ceremony. Bhavini and Stan also had their hands placed together to show the world they are united together in marriage.
Following the official joining of Bhavini and Stan, they took some time to completely change their looks and outfits before the evening festivities began. When they arrived back at Erin’s Pavilion they looking phenomenal! Bhavini wore a gold beaded dress with a high neckline and full skirt. She really was a vision! And Stan was looking pretty dapper in a two-toned deep plum and black suit jacket and bowtie! These guys have style, right?! Luckily for me, they gave me a bit more time to capture the now Mr. & Mrs. Blustein and this time was time well spent! I think Bhavini and Stan could finally start to breathe easier now that the stress of making the ceremony perfect was over. The two shined as they snuggled in close and even practiced a few of their moves for the first dance they had planned.
Speaking of their first dance, it was AWESOME! Once they were announced into the reception and the meal was served, their choreographed dance to Michael Buble’s version of “Feeling Good” couldn’t have been more fun with spins, dips, and a lift to captivate their guests! Bhavini and Stan did a great job and their practice definitely paid off! Before the party really got started to continuing the celebration, I stole Bhavini and Stan one more time for sunset photos! Erin’s Pavilion is always one of my favorite spots at sunset with my couples! The sunset did not disappoint for Bhavini and Stan! Then the couple returned to take in the party with loved ones! Thank You to Bhavini and Stan for allowing me to capture their love and fabulous Hindu celebration!
Warm Regards,
Lauren
