I am a wedding and portrait photographer who keeps things light, fun, and full of energy. I’m based out of Springfield, Illinois however I love traveling all over the midwest and beyond.
inquire about your session!
I hate when the weather plays a role in my sessions but for Savannah and Brett’s spring engagement session in Mulberry Grove, Illinois it made scheduling (and rescheduling) really fun! Since Brett is a farmer who works the land with his dad they wanted photos near the family farm including IN the fields. All this crazy rain was making our lives very interesting with saturated fields and lots of mud. Yet, when we pushed their photos back once already and there was a slight chance of rain in the forecast we all just decided to go for it! And boy, were we pleasantly surprised! Savannah and Brett met me at a cute little white barn surrounded by trees and abandoned grain bins, which is near the land they farm. They knew the owner of the property and thought this would be an amazing spot for photos. I couldn’t have agreed more!
We began with Savannah and Brett and their two adorable pups, Lola and Sadie, and their matching lemon bandanas to mom’s cute lemon shirt! Sweet, right?! These ladies are Savannah and Brett’s furbabies and of course had to be included in photos! After their close-ups, it was all about the fantastic pair, who is getting married in October this year. These two were a bit nervous at the beginning, however, once we got going and they realized this session was all about their relationship and having fun they opened right up. They really were naturals and as we moved from place to place around the barn something wonderful happened. The sun popped out! I literally grabbed Savannah and Brett and we ran down the road so we could catch some of that beautiful golden light! YAY! We had a quick outfit change then we headed a few miles down the road to the fields were Brett and his father farm. I had asked Brett earlier in the evening if the field we were going to had all the awesome yellow flowers I had seen on my drive down. His response, “You mean the weeds?” Apparently, the farmers aren’t as thrilled with all the pretty flowers like the photographer because that means it’s too wet for them to be tearing them out and planting. But, I was so thrilled to have them for their photos! They gave a nice POP behind this cute couple! Sorry, Brett! We threw on our muck boots so we could slop through the soaked field to get to the perfect spot. This was farm life, people and it was lovely! Savannah and Brett’s relationship really shined through as they were in their element. Before we finished up, one last time the sun peeked out and gave us some amazing colors, which we were all thankful for! I am very excited and feel blessed to be a part of their journey and learn more about their love story! Can’t wait for the big day in a few short months!
Warm Regards,
Lauren
