I am a wedding and portrait photographer who keeps things light, fun, and full of energy. I’m based out of Springfield, Illinois however I love traveling all over the midwest and beyond.

I’m not sure I have laughed as much during a session than I did at Annie and Sam’s fall engagement session! These two had me giggling alongside them as soon as we began our time together. The pair is currently living up near Chicago, Illinois as Annie is in the middle of Physician’s Assistant School at Midwestern University after both her and Sam graduated from the University of Illinois in Springfield. But, since they were heading back to Springfield over Thanksgiving break we met up for their engagement session on a chilly yet beautiful day! The plan was to head over to Lincoln Park to start their session, however, they wanted a few quick photos with one of their family members…Rain the cat! And boy, he’s a pretty kitty! He wasn’t so sure about being outside at Sam’s family home, but he did great and Annie and Sam were thrilled to show off Rain and his piercing green eyes! Then we headed over to Lincoln Park and basically had the whole place to ourselves on a cold day. Annie and Sam couldn’t be happier to snuggle up in each other’s arms. Many couples who choose to take their engagement photos in the fall are usually getting married the following autumn. But, not Annie and Sam! They are total beach bums and they chose a spot close to their hearts to tie the knot this coming spring! Seagrove, Florida has been the place Annie has vacationed with her family for years and the perfect getaway for a destination wedding! And guess what?! I get to go and capture their most special moments! I’m over the moon excited for their wedding at the beach! Especially after the fun I had with Annie and Sam in Illinois!
After Lincoln Park, we drove a few minutes to Annie’s lovely family home, which backed up to a wooded area as well as a wonderful pond! We found a dock where the sunset was shining down on the water and provided a new level to the term golden hour! It was the perfect lighting for these two as they cozied up dockside as well as in the surrounding tall grasses! Sam has an incredible talent of glancing at Annie that makes her light up! They are truly adorable! We decided to finish up at sunset with a few dips and twirls and the most hysterical part of the session was when Sam wanted to see what all the fun was about with the twirls. So I gave him the same direction as I gave Annie to maintain eye contact then look down her shoulder the second time around! OMG! I think they both nailed it! Annie and Sam are a fantastic couple and full of love and joy for one another! I can’t wait to witness and capture their beach nuptials this spring as they become husband and wife!
Warm Regards,
Lauren
