Erin and Jake are a busy couple! She is an attorney and he is an Illinois State Police Officer. Both civil servants, who take pride in their work! They are also completely in love with their coonhound, Remi, who joined us for their engagement session in central Illinois and the Springfield area. The couple lives closer to St. Louis, but they wanted a change of scenery for their e-session. Working with Erin, we decided on a few spots around Springfield to capture their relationship. Erin expressed how much she and Jake adore the outdoors and they wanted to show that off for their photos. We met on a beautiful evening next to a rustic white barn to start. Within a few minutes of meeting Erin and Jake, I could see how much they enjoy their time together! They were totally relaxed being in each other’s arms and having their pup Remi there at their feet made the experience even better! From the barn, we moved to The Ostermeier Prairie House, which is part of Lincoln Memorial Gardens. I really enjoy this location with its wooded areas, cool benches, and bridges. But, what I wasn’t expecting was the happy surprise of lovely tall yellow and white prairie flowers all over the place in September. I’ll totally take unexpected surprises like that, especially for this wonderful couple. Erin and Jake also wanted to show their support and love for Jake’s job and all the officers present and fallen with their thin blue line flag. We also had a bit of fun with Jake’s handcuffs and Erin’s gorgeous ring! There were many laughs as we all ensured Jake didn’t drop his handcuff key during the time they were joined at the wrist! We finished up the pair’s session over at the main part of Lincoln Memorial since Erin and Jake wanted photos down by the lake. Luckily for us, we had the gardens to ourselves and I think Erin and Jake savored the quiet and meaningful time together. They are absolutely incredible together and capturing their delightful relationship was a blast! I am very excited for their fall wedding next year!
