If you ask me if it’s okay to bring your puppy to your engagement session the answer will always be, “YES”! Especially since I’m definitely a dog person! But, when Caitlin and Ryan asked me if their Great Dane, Kane could make an appearance the answer was most definitely, “HECK YES”! Caitlin and Ryan are incredibly cute together, but when you hear them talk about their big baby, Kane they are even more adorable! I met this pair over dinner to hear all about their February 2019 Great Gatsby wedding theme last year. This girl is a planner and she had her binder and questions ready to go! Love it! A girl after my own heart!
Fast forward to their engagement last week and we began at the Illinois State Capital in Springfield, IL to match the elegant architecture just like the elegant vision of their wedding. Caitlin and Ryan are very snuggly and were ready to get close. So they made my life very easy! We had fun playing by the fountains, the archways, and the beautiful golden light peeking through the trees! After the capital, we went over to Washington Park in Springfield, where Ryan (and Kane) asked the question that began their journey to the altar. Sweet Kane met us at the gazebo and was ready for his close up! He donned his fancy tuxedo bow tie and custom sign Ryan used when he proposed saying, “Will You Marry My Dad?” He was such a good boy and Caitlin and Ryan are somewhat obsessed with their big guy! But, I can see why! We were finishing up with photos and Caitlin asked for one more with her ring on Kane’s nose. Well, he was doing an awesome job sitting still and to make sure I got the perfect shot he was posing maybe a little too long with this object on his nose. Caitlin was using all the different tricks to get Kane to look towards my camera and the word, “Treat” came out of her mouth and in one second Kane flipped her beautiful ring up in the air and chomped down! INSTANT HEART ATTACK! Right before Caitlin was about to stick her entire arm down Kane’s throat…We realized the ring was on the ground! Oh.My.Goodness! We had a good, long laugh after one of the scariest engagement session moments ever! Other than that crazy ending, my time with Caitlin and Ryan (and Kane) was delightful and I am so pumped for their winter wedding!
