The moment that I met Lauren and Terry and she began telling me all about their relationship and wedding plans at the Lemp Mansion in St. Louis, Missouri I knew they were my kind of people! They are playful together, sarcastic (which is right up my alley), and roll with the punches! Admittedly, Lauren said they are not your average couple being they have a bit of an age difference. Personally, I never asked them what that age gap was because to me, love is love! And judging by the amount of admiration from loved ones who played a part in their big day along with the stories talking about never seeing either the bride or the groom being happier…I would say age is just a number!
Lauren, her bridesmaids, and Man of Honor, Michael, all got ready at her parent’s gorgeous row home. I have to admit, I’m totally obsessed with their front door and thought it would make the perfect place to photograph Lauren’s beautiful sequence dress and her accessories! And can we talk about her unique gold heels?! Amazing! Getting this lovely bride dressed was something special for her mom, Coleen. I believe every time I put the two of them together and told them to look at one another the tears would start! I absolutely love seeing mothers and daughters share this experience. Lauren was stunning in her gown and made for a incredible bride!
We all headed right around the corner to Lafayette Square Park in St. Louis, where we caught up with Terry and all his groomsmen looking dashing in their black suits. Lauren and Terry chose to do a first look so they could have a memorable moment of seeing each other for the first time. Under the purple Redwood trees was a perfect setting for their reveal. First looks always give me chills! I can’t help it! Allowing me to be a fly on the wall and see the reaction of both the bride and groom laying eyes on one another on one of the most special days of their lives is a wonderful privilege. Following the first look, the whole bridal party with the ladies (and a gentleman) in emerald green and Terry and his groomsmen with gold accents joined the couple for photos all throughout the park. Lafayette Square was full of elaborate wrought iron bridges and fences as well as a charming gazebo. With so many laughs and good vibes flowing with the bridal party the time before the ceremony simply flew by! Before we knew it, we headed to the Lemp Mansion Courtyard for the nuptials. The ceremony was full of scriptures, devotion, and the joining of two lives. And once they were pronounced Husband and Wife, Terry and Lauren and all their guests took a short 2 block walk over to the Lofts at Lemp Mansion for the reception to begin.
The Lofts at Lemp Mansion is an one of a kind venue where Lauren, Terry, and all their guests to kick off their shoes and celebrate the newlyweds! The space used to be the hayloft for the Lemp Breweries’ Percheron horses. The peaked metal wrapped in soft twinkle lights made a perfect backdrop for the reception. And although I am a sucker for the golden light of sunsets being in the city sometimes makes sunset photos more challenging. Yet, if I have the opportunity I’m definitely going to try! So out to the street we went! The Macks practices their twirl, dip, and smooches right in the middle of the street at sunset! I will take every little magical moment I captured of this wonderful pair on the street in between dodging cars.
Mr. and Mrs. Mack were a joy to get to know and to photograph on their journey to wedding day! Their lives have been on the fast track since I met them selling and buying houses, plus planning this incredible wedding. So, I’m excited for them to maybe have a chance to slow down for a small amount of time and let the fact that they are husband and wife sink in. Congrats to Lauren & Terry!
Warm Regards,
Lauren
