I am a wedding and portrait photographer who keeps things light, fun, and full of energy. I’m based out of Springfield, Illinois however I love traveling all over the midwest and beyond.
inquire about your session!
Springtime in central Illinois can be a bit confusing. One day it could be 35 degrees with snow in the forecast. The next day it may be 60 and sunny. And later in the week you think it’s monsoon season. Many times in the spring, I will schedule sessions only to reschedule them twelve times due to the weather being too wet, too windy, or too cold. Luckily for Lauren and Terry’s engagement session in Springfield, IL we got it in on the first try! Although it was a bit windier and chillier than we all wanted spirits were high and we were ready to go! As it was my first engagement session of 2018, I was almost giddy! Then beautiful Lauren walked up to the Old State Capitol building in her flowy white and gold pleated floor length skirt and it was like Christmas! Time to have some fun!
Lauren and Terry are super cute together! Lauren is a bubbly and warm person, who treats everyone like they are long time friends. Terry is kind and sweet, yet more on the quite side. However, I did learn he has a bit of a sarcastic side (Hello! Me too!) so I used that to my advantage as we went along into the session. We began, as I said, at the Old State Capitol in downtown Springfield. We had to make quick work at this spot due to the closing time of the building. But, I knew that Lauren loved this location so we made sure to capture some memorable moments of her and Terry both inside at the staircase and outside around the columns. Before heading out to the park we walked down to Springfield Union Station so the couple could get some more snuggle time in and to block the wind a bit. The one thing I found that I absolutely love about these two is the smirks and glances they give one another. Each look can evoke a different reaction like a chuckle, kiss, or even a love smack! So adorable.
We finished up their session at Lincoln Park by the lovely bridge at the bottom of the hill. I thought Lauren’s magical skirt was incredible, but she had equally as fantastic dresses and accessories for the park as well! This lady has some style! Terry has a very special way of bringing out the best smiles and laughs from Lauren. Some of my favorite shots are of Lauren’s wrinkled nose and laugh out loud giggles from something that Terry whispered in her ear. That to me is the essence of an amazing session! Their April St. Louis wedding will be a stunning one and I can’t wait to be a part of it!
Warm Regards,
Lauren
