I am a wedding and portrait photographer who keeps things light, fun, and full of energy. I’m based out of Springfield, Illinois however I love traveling all over the midwest and beyond.
inquire about your session!
Winter engagement sessions can be full of magic and fun when they are surrounded by snow. Yet, when you mix the snow with below zero wind chills and freezing temperatures you should have little spurts of magic out in the cold! Luckily Laura and Michael are a “Roll with the punches” kind of couple and their engagement session in Bloomington, Illinois was nothing short of enchanting! Because of the chilling temps we decided to start their session at Laura’s beautiful family home. In our planning, Laura had expressed how much they wanted to show off not only the love between her and Michael, but also their mutual love of many different passions. The pair are avid readers so beginning the session in the library was a no brainer. They brought with them many of their favorites including Laura’s beloved “Alice in Wonderland”. When your in the library you are supposed to be quite, but these two could not stop laughing with each other, which was adorable. And the family cat wasn’t helping their cause as he kept sneaking into my frame! It was pretty hilarious! We then moved into the family room where we could break out their cherished record player along with their stack of vinyls. Their eclectic taste in music spanned from hard rock, to classic oldies, to Star Wars. Which by the way, is where Michael proposed to Laura! Right in front of their favorite Star Wars ride at Disney! How cool?
After we had fun playing up lots of little spots inside we decided to brave the cold and head to Uptown Normal to check out a few urban spots. I have totally fallen in love with Uptown Normal and it’s lovely shops, architecture, and hidden gems for photos. It was probably pretty comical to watch the three of us for the short time we were outside. Laura and Michael tossing off their coats, rushing to follow the directions I was giving them for each shot, then running back over to wrap themselves in the heat of their coats. Although the sun was shining….It was frigid. And of course for the best photos I had to keep them in the shade. So that didn’t help them stay warm. But, giving them total credit they had smiles on their faces the entire time and laughed their way through the chill in the air! We finished up right outside on of their favorite places, The Normal Theater. The movie theater has a vibrant sign outside and fit perfectly into Laura and Michael’s unique session.
These two are wonderfully laid back and make an incredible couple! I am very much looking forward to this splendid couple’s fall 2018 wedding! It will be here before we know it and I can’t be more excited!
Warm Regards,
Lauren
