I am a wedding and portrait photographer who keeps things light, fun, and full of energy. I’m based out of Springfield, Illinois however I love traveling all over the midwest and beyond.

When I saw Stacy’s face at the Springfield, Illinois Elegant Bridal Expo in January I was pretty excited! I had worked with Stacy here and there when I worked in corporate America before leaving to go full time photographer and mompreneur. She was always so bubbly and had a smile on her face. So when she introduced me to her sweet and down to earth fiance, Chris and told me they were getting married in 2018 I couldn’t have been more thrilled they chose to stop by and see me! Fast forward past our fun wedding consult over dinner and officially being booked and it was time for their engagement session! They live in Lincoln, Illinois and Stacy knew she wanted to go to Kickapoo Creek Park in Lincoln, where she loved taking walks in the past. Then the plan was to finish up at Chris’ parent’s property where there was a great pond and lots of places to roam. Works for me! I love photographing at new places!
One thing I haven’t mentioned yet, but completely was part of our time together….The Heat! The last Saturday I had available on my calendar they choose just happened to be the last night of the heat wave we just experienced! And it was hot and humid! Pretty sure the “feels like” temp was around 105! We didn’t have the opportunity to reschedule due to both of our busy schedules so we all decided we had to suck it up and get the session done that night! Other than the constant wiping off of my lens that kept fogging up, it was hot, but bearable now that I had a super adorable couple in front of my camera! Kickapoo Creek has some wonderful spots like a suspension bridge over the creek and wildflower field. Yet, nothing compared to Chris and Stacy as they snuggled up with each other and giggled throughout our time there. Between the opening of Stacy’s door when we were driving from place to place to the adoring eye glances I can tell how smitten Chris is with Stacy! And the warm feelings are sent right back Chris’ way! They are lovely together.
We then chased the sun over to Chris’ family land for more sunset photos overlooking the pond from the family’s tiki hut, a walk past the windmill, and having them be playful in a much beloved willow tree! However, I think the one thing that we were all looking forward too was the part Chris really pushed for…A Firework Finale! Chris’ friend owns a fireworks store and Chris has spent much time helping during events with the fireworks in the past. Saying no to a cute couple under the glow of fireworks was not an option! It was a bit tricky since I love working with natural light and there wasn’t any due to dark needed to see the fireworks. Yet, I simply popped on my flash to make sure Stacy and Chris could be seen for most of the show. I think though my favorite shot is the silhouette of the pair under a parade of firework bursts! Thanks for showing me around Lincoln Stacy and Chris! Super excited for your Spring 2018 wedding!
Warm Regards,
Lauren
