Absence makes the heart grow fonder. This saying is one I remember my mom always telling me when speaking of loved ones we did not have a chance to see all the time. Basically teaching me to hold dear the people we love the most and be grateful for those relationships even when their is distance to contend with. Not having the opportunity to share your daily joys and defeats with your special someone can be very tough. Especially when that person is the one you are planning a wedding with. Megan and Alex have experienced this type of long distance relationship over the last of year leading up to their August wedding. Alex is currently in the Navy and stationed in Virginia, where Megan will be joining him to start her teaching career. Yet, from the time Megan booked me as their wedding photographer until a couple of weeks before their big day in Chatham, Illinois they were separated by hundreds of miles and different time zones.
However, judging by their engagement session last summer when Alex was home on a short leave, the two of them were made for each other. They couldn’t hold hands or gaze into one another’s eyes long enough that day. It was lovely to see. Fast forward to their wedding day and those same adorable moments of pure joy were apparent on both Megan and Alex’s faces. They were so thankful to be sharing their big day together along with so many family and friends. They had planned everything down to the smallest detail. Well…if we are being honest, Megan planned most of it! One thing I learned about working with Megan is that we share a love for planning! Per her dad’s toast at the reception she is very proficient in Excel spreadsheets to keep herself organized! Now, Excel isn’t totally my thing, but I’m a great list maker! So planning with her was a treat!
On top of all the emotional tributes floating around, including a surprise 25th anniversary cake presentation for the bride’s parents, there was a big heap of pure fun spread throughout the day! The bridal party had me giggling the whole time and capturing Megan and Alex with their closest friends was a delight! Many jokes, laughs, and enjoyment between the longtime friends, a few who came from all over the country to be a part of the huge milestone day. Their family and friends hold the two of them in such high regard and I know their marriage is a sacred part of their relationship. I’m wishing them the best in their new lives together on the east coast and continued blessings!
Warm Regards,
Lauren
