I am a wedding and portrait photographer who keeps things light, fun, and full of energy. I’m based out of Springfield, Illinois however I love traveling all over the midwest and beyond.

Age two can be full of new experiences, struggles, and lots of giggles. Two year olds are discovering so much and can now start to really vocalize things they see, what they feel, and show off their crazy amount of energy. Well sweet Brooklyn is no different and was so full life, wonder, and is absolutely hilarious on at her family session at the Sugar Creek Covered Bridge in Chatham, Illinois! Mom, Stephanie and Dad, Andy have done an amazing job in her couple of years on earth. Brooklyn has so much personality and spunk. We started off on the bridge with the three of them in their red, white, and blue which went perfectly. Brooklyn wasn’t sure about me at first, even though I photographed her and her family in the summer last year. But, as soon as mom brought out her favorite Elmo toy…we were in business! She was all smiles and Elmo and I gave her tickles and hugs! All she wanted to do was run around and have mom or dad chase her, which is typical for a toddler her age! We took plenty of “chase” breaks between photos as well as caught some of those candid moments. I personally giggled a ton watching her imitate different animals such as birds and bunnies that she saw while discovering the field next to the bridge.
Brooklyn is admittedly a mama’s girl so when it was time for her and Andy’s close up we had to turn it into “playtime” with daddy to get a few good shots of the two of them! “Fe Fi Fo Fom” then dad chasing after her seemed to do the trick right before I snapped away! Then mom got into the action scooping up little miss and stealing some kisses! She totally kept us on our toes the whole time. Even after a quick outfit change into her black and white polka dots she was off to the races. Yet, even when she wasn’t interested in standing still for family photos she did not want to be left out. When it was mom and dad’s turn for a couple’s shot, Brooklyn snuck herself back in between the two of them! So incredibly cute! Around this age it isn’t necessarily about getting a two year old to sit down for posed shots as much as it’s about learning how any particular toddler will respond to their surroundings and catching those spontaneous ever changing faces! I believe in the case of the Nyilas family and Miss B….we succeeded!
Warm Regards,
Lauren
