Last weekend I made my way back out to Petersburg, Illinois to meet little Miss Evelyn for her newborn session. She arrived close to a week early, so she must have been super excited to introduce herself to her mom and dad! About a month ago was the first time I met her parents, Alissa and Joe, at their beautiful home up on a hill for their maternity session before Evelyn made her appearance. I knew while driving the 40 minutes or so out to Petersburg that I would photograph this sweet girl in her gorgeous nursery. It was made with love by her parents and was fit for a princess. I loved the idea of recreating some photos taken during Alissa and Joe’s maternity session with Evelyn now welcomed to the world. After a few family photos in the nursery, we continued with the star of the show for her close ups. Alissa had shown me a few pieces she wanted to incorporate into Evelyn’s photos such as a crocheted blanket and owl booties and hat hand made by her grandmother and aunt. And of course a precious princess crown headband that was perfect for this royal!
Evelyn was a dream and slept the whole time! I think however that was the case because she kept mom and dad up most of the night before! She was simply looking forward to her photo shoot, I guess! She has all this glorious dark hair and lovable cheeks that you can’t help but smile when you look at her. My time with this adorable little girl was definitely worth the drive. After Evelyn’s session, I headed up to Bloomington for another session. On my way home in the evening about an hour before sunset, the clouds rolled in and there was a heavy downpour of rain. I didn’t tell Alissa this, but the sun had peaked out from behind the clouds and for the second time I was in the presence of her little girl (first at her maternity session and then for her newborn session) I saw a rainbow! I think this is a sign a splendid tiny gift will be a shining light in the world! Congrats on your new addition!
