On my drive out to Petersburg, Illinois for Alissa and Joe’s maternity session I enjoyed the sun and the warm breeze whipping through my car. I was excited to meet a new couple, who are expecting a new little girl in the middle of July. I arrived at their beautiful home sitting on top of a hill surrounded by woods. New locations are always so fun for me, especially someone’s home. You can’t get more intimate than that. Alissa and Joe wanted to start in the baby’s nursery. I walked in the room and seriously it is the most stunning nursery I have ever seen! It’s beautiful! Joe did all of the work himself and it turned out beyond gorgeous! So of course, we had to start in there and make sure we highlighted all the sweet touches from the chandelier, princess crown over her crib, and pink rocking owl to mention a few! Alissa was glowing in her long flowy, two toned dress. We definitely played with that dress on several occasions to show off the bump. Especially when we headed outside to their park like yard. We took advantage of the sun peeking through the trees as well as few spots with white flowers popping out. We spotted a few clouds coming towards us at the end of our session and before they got too close, Joe suggested heading down to a flowering tree at the bottom of the hill. We hopped into his truck for the short ride and no sooner did we get out of the truck did the skies open up on top of us. We hustled over to the huge tree for a few more joyful shots with the two of them. I got what we needed…until we turned around and there was an incredible rainbow! Without a doubt we were not done! Even though at this point we were all getting poured on, Alissa and Joe hung in with me as we positioned them right under the colorful rainbow. Alissa and her glow grew even brighter standing on her own beneath the bands of color. Joe is totally smitten with Alissa and it was fun to watch them together. You can tell how excited they are for their little girl to arrive. Thanks so much for inviting me out to your home for this wonderful moment in your lives. And side note to leave you with. My ride home I witnessed the full glory of that rainbow that slipped into our photos. It was a double rainbow shining all the way to the ground! I did a little online research and a double rainbow is symbolic for a transformation in life! I think this is perfectly fitting for a couple about to add a bubbly little girl into their lives.
