I met Mary Ann on our first day of college soccer practice at Fontbonne University in St. Louis, Missouri. Over the hours of conditioning, drills, and two-a-days Mary Ann and I became friends quickly. I think we both had the same sarcastic sense of humor and that instantly connected us. By our sophomore year we were roommates living on campus while continuing to play soccer with one another. We were together on and off the field and always had a wonderful, hilarious time causing, what Mary Ann said was her middle name…TROUBLE. We have stayed in contact ever since graduation and she remains one of my core group of friends in a close circle. Whenever I am down in St. Louis or either of us have something important in our lives going on we always try and be there. Or if our crazy schedules don’t allow at least make a phone call to celebrate the best we can.
So of course when she called me about photographing her family along with her fiancé, Matt and his family over Mother’s Day weekend I said, Yes! We decided to meet at Bee Tree County Park in Oakville, Missouri. The day was absolutely perfect. Not too hot in the morning even though it got warmer as the day went on. I had the pleasure to meet Matt’s parents along with his brother and his family, including sweet little Addie. Plus, after years of not seeing Mary Ann’s parents we were finally reunited. And they are just as cute as before. Even though her dad wore 2 different gray shoes! Whoops! Don’t tell him I shared his secret! It can happen to anyone! There were jokes, collective, “Awwwwwwes” when seeing Addie smile or do any adorable, and definitely family bear hugs. I didn’t care about the crazy looks the boys all gave me when I said, “Now hug!” I’m running the show so they had to do as I instructed. But, because they were awesome they listened and humored me.
No matter how old we get and the distance between where our lives are taking place, I always love seeing and spending time with my friend. As we always say, “Miss Your Face”! It’s our term of endearment. The added bonus of spending time with the people that are involved in her life now couldn’t have been better. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedules for me to capture your beautiful families.
Warm Regards,
Lauren
