I am a wedding and portrait photographer who keeps things light, fun, and full of energy. I’m based out of Springfield, Illinois however I love traveling all over the midwest and beyond.
inquire about your session!
Recently I had the pleasure of working with the Wickenhauser family, who are now a party of three. Four if you count their furbaby, Boxer Lola. I was invited into their home in Springfield, Illinois for their new bundle of joy, Drew’s, newborn session. I began talking to Sarah about a week before we set up the session right before Mother’s Day. She had received my name from her long time friend and softball teammate Janna, who I had the pleasure of working with again for her son Cooper’s first birthday shoot! You can see Cooper’s photos HERE! Shout Out to Janna! I found out Sarah and husband, Stephen are both huge Green Bay Packers fans during our conversations. Sarah said her and her hubby had never worked with a photographer for a session before so she was at a bit of a loss as to what was needed from them and what I would be bringing with me. I made sure to ease Sarah’s stress while we chatted and also I sent her my Newborn Session Guide to give lots of helpful tips on how to prepare for Drew’s session. I told her we could definitely use any Packers gear they had (I own none of that…I’m a Philadelphia Eagles fan. Sorry)! Along with any other sentimental items they wanted to incorporate. I always want my clients to feel ready and stress free leading up to their time with me.
Drew was awake when I arrived, which was perfect so mom could feed him to make sure his belly was nice and full. Once he started nodding off a bit we got started. As most new parents are with me at first, Sarah and Stephen were worried Drew would mess up my blankets I set up for him. Especially since I stripped him down and out of his diaper to begin. Listen, I have been puked on, peed on, and pooped on. I have a 3 year old who started out this small. And all of my blankets are washable. So I reassured them everything would be fine. And not even 5 seconds after that Drew spit up and peed on my blanket! Babies will keep you on your toes! Just when you think you have them figured out…They change it up on you or throw you a surprise. Love it! It took a little bit of time to soothe Drew to sleep, however once he was down he was out! I was able to move him around, get beautiful photos with his parents, and even get all his Packers shots complete. Drew and his parents were so wonderful to work with. And when I can get baby snuggles, it is always a great day!
Warm Regards,
Lauren
