I am a wedding and portrait photographer who keeps things light, fun, and full of energy. I’m based out of Springfield, Illinois however I love traveling all over the midwest and beyond.
inquire about your session!
I have known Jen since we were in grade school at Glenwood on the same YBA basketball team in Chatham, Illinois. She was a year younger than me in school and I remember she was shy at the beginning. But once we were together more over the course of practices, games, and school she could be quite the joker. Whether you knew her as a long time friend or a simple acquaintance, Jen was always very sweet and pleasant to everyone she met. Marshall also went to Glenwood and we were in the same grade growing up, which seems like ages ago. He was always the life of the party and ready to have a good time! He seemed to always have a smile on his face whenever I would see him in the halls or after his football games. Hearing years later that they were engaged after they found each other in high school, I couldn’t be more thrilled for them! Jen reached out to me about their wedding photography saying that I was the first person that came to mind. Wow! I felt so honored. Their wedding is planned for August 2017 at Piper Glen Golf Course in Springfield, IL.
Jen and I started planning their engagement session and bounced lots of ideas back and forth about locations. We finally settled on a few different spots in downtown Springfield and we were playing our final location at sunset by ear. Jen and Marshall liked many of the “side locations” if you will that I have photographed downtown. They didn’t really want the main spots that most engaged couples choose such as the Old Train Station. Instead they picked spots I was photographing at, such as the train station, I would take my couples to for a bunch of extra shots off to the side of that main location. At no other time could their decision have worked out better than last Saturday! It just so happened that at the exact time we planned to start their engagement session downtown close to the train station, 500 high school kids and their parents (or at least it seemed like that many) had converged at the plaza in front of the station for photos before prom. However, lucky enough for us no one was in our little spot! Same thing happened when we headed over by the Illinois State Capital! All the while Jen and Marshall were killing it! They were very comfortable with each other and snickering together, especially when I had them get super tight snuggling. We finished up at Erin’s Pavillon at Southwinds Park, which I believe has one of the best spots for sunset photos. I absolutely LOVE playing with the sun during golden hour! The warm glow and adorable couple simply a perfect combination! I knew from the beginning of our time last weekend I would witness their easy going, fun-loving, and affectionate relationship shine through. Which I personally think is exactly what shows in their photos. Wedding day will be here before we all know it. And honestly…I’m totally ok with that!
Warm Regards,
Lauren
