The fall day of Maurissa and Bryce’s engagement session was chilly, windy, and a bit gloomy. However, meeting them at their alma mater, Illinois College in Jacksonville, IL, I knew the weather was not going to stop them from having an amazing photo shoot! From the moment I met the couple at a bridal show in Springfield, IL and we began chatting about their summer 2018 wedding the connection to them was incredible. We didn’t get to chat long, but I had a feeling we were all on the same page as far as the importance of their photography! And by the time I got home from the show I already had a message from Maurissa that they wanted to book me for their wedding! YAY! Now back to their e-session and beginning our photos in a spot where they spent so much time during their 8 year journey together was awesome! Plus, they had in tow Maurissa’s mom, Tracy, for support and their beloved shepherd pup, Ruger to snuggle with and set the tone for some laughs. From the fun on campus at the tree swing, spiral staircase, and pretty fall colors Maurissa and Bryce’s energy and love for one another was apparent. I believe too the saying, “Absence makes the heart grow fonder” which was in full display as these two took every opportunity they could to get as close to each another as possible. At the time of our session, Bryce was nearing the end of his training for the Illinois Police Academy (which he has since graduated from). While he was in the academy he had limited contact with Maurissa during the months he was gone. So the moments they spent together for their photos were filled with plenty of adoring smiles, kisses, and true joy as they were reunited even for that short period. Thanks, Bryce so much for your service to our community!
Once we finished up on campus, we headed a few minutes out of town to Bryce’s family farm. There I had the pleasure of meeting his mom, Becky and dad, Ken and being allowed to roam the farm for photos. His dad also showed off his amazing talent of calling the cows just for them to be included in pictures. Nothing like having a curious cow checking you all out and squeezing in behind Maurissa and Bryce to get her five seconds of fame. But, I would say it was worth it! What other characteristic I noticed right away about these two is how family oriented they are. They both come from fantastic families and share very close bonds with each member. I absolutely love this aspect of these two as I’ve also grown up in a very tight knit family and know how important it is since they are about to enter into marriage. After playing around with the cows for a bit we wondered about the farm fighting a little wind, but discovering some wonderful spots for Maurissa to cozy up in Bryce’s arms and share some giggles and kisses. They are so natural and easy going when in each other’s company too and I know I am going to enjoy capturing the special memories they will share becoming husband and wife! It didn’t hurt either finishing up their session in the kitchen sipping Becky’s delicious homemade hot chocolate! Yum!
Warm Regards,
Lauren
